A clamp (21) includes a pair of electrically conductive members (23,25) which enclose the envelope (11) and contact its outer surface during the coating. The conductive members are supported by insulating arms (33,35) and are provided with heating elements (31) so that the temperature of the envelope is controlled and attraction of the charged phosphor particles is enhanced.

    摘要: In a process for coating a substrate with phosphor particles, for example when coating phosphor particles on a fluorescent lamp glass, a polymer is deposited on the phosphor particles and the phosphor particles are entrained in a carrier gas with the polymer in a non-adhering state. The phosphor particles are then coated on the substrate with the polymer in an adhering state so as to retain the phosphor particles on the substrate. The coated substrate is then heated to a temperature above a decomposition temperature of the polymer so as to remove the polymer to form a coating of phosphor particles on the substrate.
