    摘要: In a process for coating a substrate with phosphor particles, for example when coating phosphor particles on a fluorescent lamp glass, a polymer is deposited on the phosphor particles and the phosphor particles are entrained in a carrier gas with the polymer in a non-adhering state. The phosphor particles are then coated on the substrate with the polymer in an adhering state so as to retain the phosphor particles on the substrate. The coated substrate is then heated to a temperature above a decomposition temperature of the polymer so as to remove the polymer to form a coating of phosphor particles on the substrate.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for electrostatically applying phosphor coatings to the interior surface of fluorescent lamp tubes includes equipment for applying an electrical charge of one polarity to the glass wall and electrical charge of the opposite polarity to the phosphor particles to cause the phosphor particles to adhere to the glass surface until the particles can be heated to bond them to the interior surface of the glass by lehring. By using electrostatic deposition the lehring may be done at a lower temperature than is required with conventional phosphor deposition using organic binders so that U-shaped fluorescent lamps do not experience distortion from the lehring temperature. The invention includes the fluorescent lamps provided which are devoid of residue of organic binder.

    摘要: A method of electrophotographically manufacturing a luminescent screen assembly (22) on a substrate (18) of a CRT (10) includes the steps of coating the substrate with a conductive layer (32) and overcoating the conductive layer with a photoconductive layer (34), establishing an electrostatic charge on the photoconductive layer, and exposing selected areas of the photoconductive layer to visible light to affect the charge thereon. Then, the selected areas of the photoconductive layer are developed with triboelectrically charged, dry-powdered, surface-treated screen structure materials. The improved method increases the adherence of the surface-treated materials to the photoconductive layer by contacting the surface-treated materials with a solvent to render the photoconductive layer and the materials tacky. The dried screen is fixed with a plurality of coatings of an aqueous alcohol mixture of dichromated polyvinyl alcohol or potassium silicate and then filmed, aluminized and baked to form the screen assembly.
