A molded circuit component for connecting lead wires of round cross-section to a flat electrical cable having a plurality of flat electrical wires spaced at intervals from one another and a plurality of fastening pin penetration apertures. The terminal end of the circuit component for connecting with the flat wires comprises: a body; a plurality of metal lines disposed in the body; a plurality of connection terminals comprising the ends of the metal lines and secured to the body by a molding resin. At least one connecting portion extends from at least one end of the body in a direction parallel to the metal lines. A fastening cover is also provided for covering the connecting portion whereby a plurality of positioning apertures is formed in at least one of the connecting portion and the fastening cover. The terminal end also including a plurality of fastening pins for engaging the connecting portion, the fastening pin penetration apertures of the cable and the fastening cover whereby the pins are positioned such that they do not come into contact with the conductors of the cable.

The object of the present invention is to provide a solderless connector which permits the exact positioning of a flat, flexible cable in its housing. An electric connector (3) comprising a housing (4) having a resilient contact piece (5) integrally connected therewith, permitting insertion of a flat, flexible cable (2) to put the conductor surface (2A) of said flat, flexible cable (2) in registration with selected part of the circuit pattern (1A) on a printed circuit board (1), said resilient contact piece (5) being adapted to push the conductor surface (2A) of said flat, flexible cable (2) against said selected part of the circuit pattern (1A), is characterized in that said housing (4) has a groove (11) made on its front portion, thereby accommodating the leading edge of said flat, flexible cable (2) when inserted in said housing (4), and that said housing (4) has a lock piece (12) integrally connected to the vicinity of a cable slot (8), thereby causing said lock piece (12) to be yieldingly bent, pushing the rear side (2c) of said flat, flexible cable (2) when said housing (4) is fixed to said printed circuit board (1) with the aid of associated pins (10).

A flexible board electrical connector includes a housing having an opening on an upper corner and a plurality of contact channels on the opening; a plurality of contact elements fitted in the contact channels such that spring contact portions thereof exposed in the opening; a pressure member attached to the housing for rotation between a closed position where it is brought into contact with the contact elements and an open position where it is apart from the contact elements; and a pressure edge provided on the pressure member at such a position that when the pressure member is in the open position, it is in a first position outside from a line including the turning center of the pressure member and the contact portion of a contact element and when the pressure member is turned to the closed position, it is moved to a second position inside from the line so that once the pressure member is turned to the closed position, the pressure member is urged to the closed position by reactive forces of the contact portions and the flexible board.
