    摘要: A power steering system used for a vehicle, in which a booster (11), a direction control valve (12) and a hydraulic pump (13) are connected to a hydraulic circuit. A pressure oil setting valve (15) enables a compensating pressure oil the pressure of which is higher than a circuit pressure to he extracted on the upstream side of the direction control valve (12). When a steering wheel (51) starts being turned, the compensating pressure oil is injected into a pair of reaction force chambers (38, 39) in the direction control valve (12) in the turning direction by presssure oil injection valves (16, 17). When the steering wheel (51) is turned back, a compensating pressure oil is injected into these two reaction force chambers (38, 39) in the turned back direction by the pressure oil injection valves (16, 17). A reaction force regulating valve (18) is provided in a reaction force regulating passage (26) which allows the two reaction force chambers (38, 39) to communicate with each other, and a throttle is regulated in accordance with a vehicle speed. This enables a response characteristics control operation improving the response characteristics with respect to a steering input to be carried out properly, and a speed sensitivity control operation varying the steering power in accordance with a vehicle speed to be carried out properly.

    摘要: A power assisted vehicle steering system of the speed responsive kind has a ram 6 fluid flow to chambers 4 and 5 of which from a pump 9 is directed by an open centre steering valve 1. Communication between the chambers 4 and 5 is permissible through a by-pass valve 13 adjustable by a solenoid 17 in response to vehicle speed to open such communication as speed increases (and thereby decrease power assistance) and vice versa. The valve 13 has a spool 22 which is spring loaded relative to a control spindle 18 of the solenoid. Adjustment of the spool 22 in response to speed variations opens or closes by-pass ports 14 and 15 to opposite ends of a restrictor 32 which provides such fluid flow communication. A spring loaded spool 41 in the valve 13 is responsive through chambers 39 and 40 to fluid pressure at opposite sides of the restrictor 32. When the fluid pressure differential across the restrictor 32 exceeds a predetermined differential, the spool 41 is displaced to direct fluid pressure to spool chamber 55. This displaces the spool 22 against its spring biasing 27 and relative to the rod 18 thereby closing the ports 14 and 15 (and communication between the ram chambers) so that increased power assistance becomes available irrespective of the vehicle being at high speed.

    摘要: An improved assisted steering mechanism is described which permits an additional preload to be introduced, in a reduced space and at low cost, on the spring that centers the distributor valve, subsequent to centering that distributor valve. The mechanism that is described also permits the said additional preload to be modified depending on the vehicle speed. This mechanism is made up of two components (1) and (2) which turn on the same shaft E and which are in a relative fixed position on the steering of shaft E. The relative gyration of the two components (1) and (2) determines the opening of the distributor valve. Component (1) has axial enlargements which are inserted in notches pertaining to a spring-washer (6′) which turns solidarily with component (2). The relative gyration of the components (1) and (2) forces the preload of the washer (6′) to be overcome. Force "F" is applied on the washer by joint (16) caused by pressure in chamber A, depending on the vehicle speed. The preload can thus be varied in terms of the speed.

    摘要: A hydraulic power steering apparatus having conventional relatively rotatable valve spool (54) and valve body (64) elements for flow regulation, and an integral electromagnetic mechanism (92) which effectively varies the centring force between the valve spool and valve body to adjust the level of steering assist provided for a given operator steering input. The electromagnetic mechanism includes a rotary magnetic circuit (100) and a stationary magnetic circuit (102). The rotary magnetic circuit comprises a pair of axially displaced magnetic pole pieces (106,108) which rotate with the pinion shaft (28) and a permanent magnet disk element (104) which is disposed between the pole pieces and which rotates with the input shaft (18). The stationary magnetic circuit includes an annular exciting coil (130) disposed about the rotary magnetic circuit and ferromagnetic pole elements (134-139) adjacent each of the rotary pole pieces. The exciting coil is energized so as to vary the valve body/valve spool centring force, and hence the driver steering effort, with vehicle speed.
