摘要: The present invention provides a positioning control device and a disk device for shortening a calculation delay time. Upon detection of a position signal from a demodulation circuit (51), an MCU (52) of the disk device calculates a position error, and following calculation of a control amount, executes determination and correction processing. A variable value prior to the start of calculation is stored in a save area (MEMORY B) of a memory (or a save memory) such that when the variable value is to be reset as a result of the determination and correction processing, the variable value is read from the save area, the reset variable value is stored in an overwrite area (MEMORY A) of the memory (or an overwrite memory), and calculation of the control amount is re-executed.

摘要: A head suspension is described, which can be assembled without damaging the head element. In the head suspension, a rigid section holds a head slider which writes data on and reads data from a disk. The rigid section is capable of bearing an external force whose direction is perpendicular to a recording face of the disk. A spring section has elasticity in the direction perpendicular to the recording face of the disk. An anti-vibration member is provided in the spring section, the anti-vibration member at least partially defines an opening over the spring section. With this structure, a change in the elasticity of the head suspension can be maintained within an appropriate range, transmission of vibration to the head slider can be restricted, and the head slider can be floated stably.

摘要: A device and method are provided for preventing the damage of a disk by stopping the operation of a hard disk drive (HDD) if vibration is exerted on a hard-disk mobile communication terminal or free falling thereof occurs. The hard-disk mobile communication terminal stops the operation of a HDD by detecting the vibration and/or impact being exerted thereon through a sensor, if the exerted vibration and/or impact exceed a predetermined level. The hard-disk mobile communication terminal includes an impact detecting unit for outputting a HDD operation enable/disable signal that is the basis of decision of whether to operate the HDD according to the level of the impact exerted on the hard-disk mobile communication terminal, and a HDD operation control unit for deciding whether to operate the HDD according to the HDD operation enable/disable signal if access of the HDD is requested.

摘要: A writer for head positioning information, or a so-called servo track writer (11) causes a read gap (29) to follow a track which has been established on a recording medium or disk (12). As long as the read gap keeps following the existing track, a write gap (32) is caused to move along a path extending in parallel with the existing track. The write gap (32) is utilized to write head positioning or servo information into the recording medium (12) along the path. Even when the recording medium suffers from vibration or the like, the read gap (29) can follow the track. The head positioning information can thus be written into the recording medium (12) so as to establish a head positioning pattern at a higher positional accuracy.
