摘要:
A hydrophilic melt-extruded multicomponent polymeric strand including a first melt-extrudable polymeric component and a second melt-extrudable, hydrophilic polymeric component, the first and second components being arranged in substantially distinct zones across the cross-section of the multicomponent strand and extending continuously along the length of the multicomponent strand, the second component constituting at least a portion of the peripheral surface of the multicomponent strand continuously along the length of the multicomponent strand. The second component renders the strand hydrophilic and preferably has a critical surface tension at 20 ° C greater than about 55 dyne/cc, and more preferably greater than about 65 dyne/cc. A suitable hydrophilic second component comprises a block copolymer of nylon 6 and polyethylene oxide diamine. Suitable polymers for the first component include linear polycondensates and crystalline polyolefins such as polypropylene. Nonwoven fabrics and absorbent articles made with the hydrophilic multicomponent polymeric strands are also disclosed.

Provided are composite fibers comprising a hydrophobic polyester (B) having a moisture absorbency at 20°C, 65% RH of not more than 2% and having a total concentration of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of alkali metals and alkali earth metals of at least 500 ppm and a nylon-4 polymer (A) in an amount of 40 to 80% by weight based on the weight of the fiber. They are excellent for clothing use, since they have excellent moisture absorbency, give no clammy feeling upon absorption of moisture, and do not suffer delamination between the nylon-4 polymer and the hydrophobic polyester. Particularly excellent among them are sheath-core composite fibers comprising a core of the nylon-4 polymer (A) and a sheath of the hydrophobic polyester (B) and side-by-side composite fibers having a flat cross-section in which the nylon-4 polymer and the hydrophobic polyester are bimetal-wise laminated with each other.

There is provided a process for preparing a sub-soluble and splittable, conjugated microfiber with a cross section having matrix orange islands and slightly connected with each other at the tip of the orange island in the matrix center. Conjugated fibers can be made into filaments and staple fibers. Filaments are spinning taken-up and then is carried out texturing by means of a belt nip twister and the resulting texture yarns are sub-dissolved following weaving to split. As to the staple fibers, it is staple fiber processed to obtain staple fibers and followed by processing into non-wovens or spinning to spun yarn and then weaving. Owing to a different splitting method from filament fabrics, staple fibers can be made to fabrics as follows:
1. Suede fabrics; 2. Water resistant and humid permeable, high density fabrics; 3. Peachskin fabrics.

By means of the spinning of a copolymer made up of varying percentages of polyamide and polyester, a yarn with particular shrinking, dyeing and behavioural characteristics is obtained. This yarn is suitable for clothing and soft furnishing fabrics, textiles in general and for some specific technical uses (such as sailcloth or electric motor coverings). The procedure for obtaining such a yarn is also described.

Provided by the invention is a highly oriented, undrawn, conductive, composite filament which is white or colorless and has antistatic properties durable over a long period when wears utilizing the fiber are actually put on and washed. The filament is a sheath-core composite filament comprising a sheath of a fiber-forming thermoplastic polymer (A) and a core of a composition (B) comprising a conductive material which comprises a conductive metal oxide(s) and a thermoplastic polyamide, having a core resistance of not more than 9 x 10¹⁰Ω/cm·filament, and maintaining a critical elongation --- an elongation reached in the course of extending a composite filament at which the core resistance exceeds 1 x 10¹¹Ω/cm·filament at a D.C. voltage of 1 kV --- of at least 5% and a shrinkage in hot water at 100°C of not higher than 20%. Such fiber can be obtained by conducting high orientation melt spinning at at least 2,500 m/min while selecting a polyamide as the core component to contain the white or colorless conductive material and having the composition previously dried to a moisture content of 100 to 1,200 ppm.

A deep dyeing helically crimped-conjugate yam is made by high speed melt spinning, preferably with an in-line draw. The drawing step increases the degree of crimp, and the resulting yarn dyes deeper than conventional yams and has greater dye stability than it would have without the drawing step.
摘要:
An easily splittable deep-dyeing conjugate filament is melt-spun by merging molten sub-streams of incompatible polymers outside the spinneret to form a combined stream, then quenching the combined stream to form the conjugate filament. The filament is preferably drawn prior to winding, increasing the crimp level and increasing the dye stability of the filament.
