摘要:
A coin entry module has a plurality of chambers (13, 25) through which a coin must pass before reaching a coin exit (15) leading to a coin chute. Inserted coins change their angular direction at least once in passing from a coin entry slot to the second chamber. Any coin inserted must also change its angular direction prior to leaving the second chamber. Any object inserted in an attempt to block the passage of coins will be trapped by the first or second chamber thus minimising potential lost coinage by bona-fide customers and minimising or preventing coin recovery by thieves.

An apparatus and method for reducing vandalism and minimizing damage from liquids injected into apertures of a vending machine is described. An anti-salting module (1), having a housing with an integral tray (2) for collecting liquids, is connected beneath a bill validator (100) in a vending machine. A rubber fillet (5) is connected to the rear of the bill validator and directs injected fluids to the tray. A moisture sensor (4) integral to the tray is connected to detection and control circuitry. When moisture is detected, the detection and control circuitry operates to interrupt power and control signals to the bill validator. After moisture has been detected, vending machine power and control signals can be restored only when moisture is no longer present, and a set switch (84) is depressed by service personnel.
摘要:
Jam reducing apparatus for use in coin operated machines, such as telephones, acts to prevent the insertion of coins when the entryway is obstructed by foreign matter, assists in dislodging jammed coins and discourages vandals. The apparatus comprises a coin entryway which includes an inclined surface as part of a flared end of a lid. An entry slot in an entrance blocker, which is an integral part of the lid, is in substantial alignment with the coin insert slot of the front panel of the machine in normal operation. The lid is connected to a torsion spring and is associated with a coin reject lever. The inclined surface of the entryway lies opposite the blocker slot and is angled toward an exit of the coin entryway, which directs a coin into the machine. In normal use, inserted coins pass through the entryway and are directed into a coin mechanism for coin testing. Foreign matter inserted into the machine hits the inclined surface and exerts a camming force on the lid, rotating the lid about a torsion spring. This moves the coin entry slot and the blocker slot out of substantial alignment, preventing the insertion of additional foreign matter or another coin. Removal of the foreign matter allows the lid to return to its normal operating position under the force of the spring.
