The panel 4 is composed of a first fibrous assembly panel 5 lying on the side of a topsheet 2 and a second fibrous assembly panel 6 underlying the first sub-panel 5. The first sub-panel 5 has a flat portion 5a, a plurality of protuberant portions 5b and a plurality of wall portions 5c. The first sub-panel 5 has a fiber density progressively increasing as the first panel 5 gets nearer to the second sub-panel 6 having a fiber density higher than that of the first panel 5. The panel 4 thus formed rapidly spreads body fluids thereover and prevent the body fluids from flowing back to a top surface of the article.

The absorbent article includes a center compressed groove extending along the longitudinal direction in a center region in the widthwise direction, and a pair of oblique compressed grooves that are each connected to one end of the center compressed groove in the longitudinal direction and are extended such that a distance between the pair of oblique compressed grooves increases outward in the longitudinal direction. A length of the oblique compressed grooves in the longitudinal direction is 30% or more a length of the center compressed groove in the longitudinal direction.
