    摘要: A suspension system (10) for mid-span connection of a paravane (P) or other article to a cable (C1) of a towed cable array (A) includes first and second hanger assemblies (20a, 20b) connected to the cable (C1) in an axially spaced relationship. In particular, the hanger assemblies (20a, 20b) are connected respectively to first and second bulbous cable regions. The bulbous cable regions are formed on the cable using inner insert elements (40), a first set of preformed helical rods (22), outer insert elements (42) positioned over the first set of helical rods (22) in the region of the inner insert elements (40), and an outer set of preformed helical rods (24). Each hanger assembly (20a, 20b) includes a housing (30a, 30b) and a rotatable collar (52a, 52b) connected to the housing. An attachment member (80a, 80b) is pivotally connected to the collar and rotates therewith. The inner and outer insert elements (40, 42) of each bulbous region optionally include aligned apertures (144, 146) that receive an alignment pin when properly positioned about a cable (C1).

    摘要: The invention is a two-part clip (10) for the purpose of securely holding fabric or sheet material (16) without damaging said material. The clip consists of a U-shaped body (10) with an angled cavity and a wedge (12), which is angled to fit snugly into the cavity. An additional component of the invention is a section of rope (14), which is passed through a hole (13), first in the wedge, then through a hole (11) in the body of the clip. The fabric (16) to be secured inserted into the cavity on either the top or the bottom of the wedge. As tension is applied to the rope, the wedge becomes firmly seated in the cavity, thus securing the fabric.

    摘要: The rope connector proposed is suitable for heavy-duty synthetic-fibre ropes (5). Cut in the envelope (2) of a rope-holding element (1) designed in the shape of a truncated cone is a spiral groove (3). In the first section (4) of the groove, the depth of the groove is the same as the diameter of the rope (5) but decreases towards the bottom, so that the rope (5), as it passes from top to bottom, progressively emerges from the groove (3). The angle of inclination of the groove (3) decreases from top to bottom, so that the rope (5) passes in through the entry aperture (6) straight and vertical, but terminates approximately horizontal at the lower end (7) of the rope-gripping element. The truncated-cone rope-holding element (1) is surrounded by a coaxially located conical cover (8) which has an opening at the upper end for the rope to pass in and which goes over to a cylindrical sleeve (9) at the lower end said sleeve being provided with a hole (10) for fixing a load. When the rope in under tension, the cover (8) rests against the holding element (1) and presses the rope (5) into the groove with a force which depends on the depth of the groove (3).

    摘要: A post and batten for fencing and other purposes which is provided with an opening (6) in one face (5) to facilitate locking engagement of a fastener (11) thereto. Also described a hand post driver to cushion shock during use. A standard driver comprises a post tube, cross-bars and handles, these elements forming a rigid frame. The present invention modifies this arrangement by mounting a cap (35) to the handles (34) and interposing coil springs (36) between the upper cross-bar (33) and the cap (35). A solid plug (37) is fixed in the end of post tube (32). There is no connection between the end of the tube (32) adjacent the cap (35) and the handles (34) are free to slide in top cross-bar (33). When the tube (32) is impacted on a post the post exerts pressure on the plug (37) and simultaneously the springs are extended cushioning the blow and then almost instantaneously the end of the tube (32) is impacted by the cap (35) providing supplementary downward force.

    摘要: A load limited connector (1) is provided which is calibrated to fail at a predetermined tensile load. The connector (1) includes a main body (2), within which a pin chamber (3) is received, and a secondary body (4) having a shaft (19) that is releasably secured within the pin chamber (3). At least one breakaway pin (15), positioned in a pin passageway (14) passing through the pin chamber (3) and into the main body (2) secures the pin chamber (3) within the main body (2). When the connector (1) is subjected to tensile loading that excess the yielding point of the breakaway pin (15), failure of the pin (15) occurs resulting in separation of the main body (2) from the secondary body (4). A pair of torsion pins (31) extend through the pin chamber (3) into the main body (2) to prevent rotation of the pin chamber (3) relative to the main body (2).
