A premixing fuel injector for a turbine engine includes easily replaceable means for monitoring temperature or other conditions of interest in the interior of the injector. The fuel injector includes a guide conduit (70) that penetrates into the injector's interior and has an externally accessible opening (74) for receiving a sensor probe (88) . The probe carries at least one sensor, such as a thermocouple junction (106) , for monitoring temperature or other conditions inside the injector. In one embodiment, the guide conduit has a nonlinear shape and the probe shank (92) is sufficiently flexible to follow the contour of the conduit and sufficiently rigid to overcome any insertion resistance that the conduit might offer. The flexibility of the shank (92) may vary longitudinally to enhance insertability of the probe into the conduit. The probe is longitudinally oversized relative to the conduit so that when the probe is correctly installed, a sensor element positioned at the probe tip (93) contacts the closed, distal end (84) of the conduit to improve the sensor's responsiveness to changing conditions inside the injector. The probe shank may also buckle slightly and press against the internal sidewall of the conduit to prevent excessive shank vibration.

Le boîtier (COM) comprend des moyens permettant de définir un second signal, issu du signal s tc délivré par le thermocouple, et des moyens de traitement de ces deux signaux permettant de détecter la présence de la flamme afin d'actionner le brûleur à des instants prédéterminés indépendamment l'un de l'autre par rapport aux moments d'apparition ou de disparition de la flamme (F). Les moyens (MA) comprennent selon un exemple un actionneur (AEM) d'une vanne (V) d'arrivée du gaz et un dispositif d'allumage (ALL) du brûleur. Le dispositif selon l'invention permet, tout en utilisant un thermocouple standard, de détecter avec des constantes de temps indépendantes l'apparition et la disparition de la flamme.

This invention provides a sensor for the depletion of oxygen in a room in which a flammable fluid heater is housed. The heater is provided with a pilot burner which is sensitive to oxygen levels and a temperature sensor (2) which senses the output from the pilot burner. The output from the temperature sensor (2) itself can be used as an indicator of oxygen depletion within the room and compared against a stored value to close off the fuel supply to the heater should the temperature sensor (2) output fall below a predetermined level. Additional features include the provision of a carbon monoxide sensor (9) linked to the heater so that the sensor is only in operation when the heater itself is turned on. Further, a second temperature sensor (14) to sense whether the appliance is in operation may be used to extinguish the pilot burner if it determines the appliance is not in use.

A catalytic combustion apparatus in which a flame port (5) equipped with an ignition electrode (6) and a flame rod (7) nearby thereof, is arranged on the downstream of a mixing chamber (4) where the fuel and the air are mixed together, a catalyst layer (8) having many communication holes (8a) is provided on the downstream side thereof, ignition means (6) is operated to form flame at the flame port (5), supply of the fuel is once stopped after a predetermined period of time has passed to extinguish the flame, and the fuel is supplied again without operating the ignition means (6) such that the combustion reaction takes place on the surface of the catalyst layer (8). When the flame is formed at the flame port (5), it is detected that a predetermined current is not obtained from said ionic current detect means (7). When the combustion reaction is started on the catalyst layer (8), on the other hand, the current that is obtained is detected to stop the combustion.
