    摘要: A head loading mechanism (10) for a removable cartridge disk drive comprises a support base (32) fixedly mounted in the drive, and a movable member (12) movably attached to the support base (32) via a pair of elongate flexures (28, 30). The movable member (12) has a ramped surface (14a, 14b, 16a, 16b) adapted to engage a suspension arm (52, 54) at the distal end of an actuator (41). A read/write head (56, 58) is mounted on the suspension arm (52, 54). The movable member (12) moves upon the flexures (28, 30) in tandem with the actuator (41) as it moves toward and away from the edge of a disk (62, 64) in the drive. The movable member (12) carries the suspension arm (52, 54) of the actuator (41) to the edge of the disk (62, 64), at which point the suspension arm (52, 54) can ride up and down the ramped surface (14a, 14b, 16a, 16b) of the movable member (12) in order to load the read/write head (56, 58) onto the surface of the disk (62, 64) and then subsequently unload the read/write head (56, 58).

Flexible springs (36, 38) mount the subcarriage (34) to the carriage (27). A voice coil motor has a coil (22) mounted on the subcarriage (34). Initial energization of the coil (22) causes linear movement of the carriage (27) flexing the springs (36, 38) to produce small incremental movement of the heads (18, 19). Further energization of the coil (22) causes movement of the subcarriage (34) on the bushings (30, 32) to provide coarse adjustment of the actuator (figure 2).

    摘要: The hub assembly of a disk cartridge has an annular groove (18) formed in its bottom surface. The outer periphery (18a) of the annular groove undercuts the bottom surface of the hub assembly to form an annular lip (18b) around the outer periphery of the groove. A data storage device designed to receive the disk cartridge has a spindle motor with at least one latch member (120b) mounted on the upper portion of the motor via a flexure. The latch member on the spindle motor enters the annular groove on the hub assembly of the disk cartridge when the disk cartridge is inserted into the data storage device. When the spindle motor spins-up to its operating speed, the latch member (120b) moves radially outwardly on its flexure and engages the annular lip (18b) in the hub assembly, thereby preventing separation of the hub assembly from the spindle motor during rotation.

An annular attracted section (31b) the height of which is different in steps from the height of the hole (31a) is provided on the periphery of the core (31). The attracted section (31b) is attracted in a face-contacting state to the magnet (14) annularly provided on the peripheral side of the turntable (12). When the magnetic disk rotates at a high speed in the cassette shell (2), therefore, the attraction of the center core (31) by the magnet (14) is strengthened, the magnetic disk does not slip nor vibrate in case of an unbalanced load.

    摘要: A magnetic head inserting hole (6) is provided in the side face (4) of a flat cassette shell (2) comprising a top face (21), a bottom face (22), and side faces (23). A shutter member (8) is slidaly provided and consituted integrally of an upper sleeve section (81), a shutter section (82), and a lower sleeve section (83) which extend respectively along the top, side, and bottom faces (21, 4 and 22) of the shell (2) in such a way that the member (8) has a U-shaped cross section and opens and closes the hole (6). A guide claw (83a) protruded inward is provided to at least one of the upper and lower sleeve sections (81 and 83) of the member (8). A guide groove (22a) into which the claw (83a) is inserted is formed in the top or bottom face (21 or 22) of the shell (2) in the direction where the member (8) slides. A slit (83b) is provided in the corner between the upper or lower sleeve (81 or 83) and the shutter section (82) of the member (8) near the guide claw (83a) so as to improve the elasticity of the upper or lower sleeve section (81 or 83) when the section (81 or 83) is bent open. Therefore, when the shutter member (8) is attached to the shell (2), the guide claw (83a) is not in contact with the surface of the shell (2) and shavings of the shell (2) are not produced accordingly.
