    摘要: A connector assembly includes a sleeve having a first end and a second end. Reinforcing rings are embedded in the sleeve at the first end. A connector, which has a barbed end, is fluidly connected to the first end of the catheter. During surgery, the first end of the sleeve can be cut to exact length after surgical placement. The barb connector on a shunt housing and the cut end of the catheter are brought together such that the barb advances into the cut end of the catheter and at least two rings snap over the barb, thereby fluidly connecting the shunt housing and the catheter while forming a solid attachment and seal.

    摘要: This invention is an improved Luer lock connector having a pair of tapered engagement surfaces (32, 50) between the hub (24) and one of the two components of the Luer connector. The tapered engagement surfaces (32, 50) provide a gradual frictional engagement when tightening the hub (24) to minimize inadvertent reverse rotation and loosening of the hub (24). The tubular body is also provided with a plurality of axially extending splines (94) for engagement with a plurality of inwardly radially directed ribs (52) on the hub (24) to positively rotationally lock the two components when the hub (24) is in a proximal position. A small circumferential ridge (106) provides tactile feedback to an operator to indicate when the hub (24) is in a positive rotationally interlocked relationship with the tubular body. The hub (24) may be completely removed in a proximal direction from the tubular body and retracted proximally along a supply line to remove it from the connector site.
