An apparatus for use in tube feeding has a cylindrical body provided with first opening and second openings connected by a flow channel. The body has a reagent, for determining a characteristic of fluid disposed in the body and a transparent window to view the reagent. In use, a first end of an internal feeding tube releasably engages with the first opening. The second, distal end of the feeding tube is disposed inside a patient. A second feeding tube engages with the second opening. The second feeding tube connects the apparatus to a bi-directional pump operable: to pump internal fluid from a reservoir, through the apparatus and into the internal feeding tube; and to pump fluid from the patient into the body of the apparatus. This allows a user to pump fluid from the patient into the body of the apparatus to react with the reagent.

A feeding tube device for postpyloric feeding comprises a bendable feeding tube having a proximal end, a central portion and, and a distal end and a delivery lumen for conducting a digestible substance. A proximal tube holder structure is adapted to be connected to the proximal end and to a control box and has a feeding port for receiving the digestible substacnce. A tilting mechanism has a tilting wire mechanically connected to said distal end and a knob coupled to said proximal tube holder structure for maneuvering said tilting wire so as to tilt the distal end in relation to the central portion. At least one image sensor is mounted on a front tip of the bendable feeding tube and connected to a communication cable passing through the proximal tube holder structure for forwarding outputs of the at least one image sensor via a connector connected to the control box.

A catheter with an imaging assembly is disclosed. The catheter is used with a console for viewing and/or storing images obtained from the catheter. The catheter may be a feeding tube assembly. The imaging assembly on the feeding tube assembly allows a user to confirm placement of the feeding tube assembly in the patient's alimentary canal.
