Polymer-modified polyol, for use as a starting material for polyurethane foam, is made by reacting an olamine, such as triethanolamine, with an isocyanate in the presence of a metal organic catalyst. The catalyst is a metal salt of an organic acid and the viscosity of the polymer-modified polyol is at least 2250 mPa·s. In one embodiment the catalyst is of the formulat M(O.CO.R.CH3)2 where M is a metal and R is a carbon chain of 6 to 20 carbons. A metal salt of a monohydroxy fatty acid, particularly ricinoleic acid may be used.

The invention relates to the production of fireproof polyurethane foam from expanded reaction mixture comprised of polyols, polyisocyanate and fireproofing additives (antipyrenes). This document describes the composition for production of fireproof polyurethane foam containing mixture of polyols, polyisocyanate and fireproofing additives. A mixture of ammonium polyphosphate and ammonium sulfamate is used as an additive in amounts of 10 to 40 wt. % of total component amount, ammonium polyphosphate-ammonium sulfamate mixture ratio is 1:2 to 7:1 weight parts, respectively. The technical result of the invention is production of polyurethane foam with maximum fireproofing (flammability class G1) and nearly permanent density as compared to polyurethane foam produced without fireproofing additives. 2 tables, 1 example.

The invention relates to a method for the production of polyurethane systems by reacting at least one polyol component with at least one isocyanate component in the presence of one or more catalysts, which catalyze the reactions isocyanate-polyol and/or isocyanate-water and/or the isocyanate trimerization. According to the invention, the reaction is carried out in the presence of pentaethylene hexamine. The invention further relates to correspondingly produced polyurethane systems.

PIPA polyols are made in a two-step process. In the first step, a base polyether polyol and a polyisocyanate are reacted to form a mixture that contains unreacted base polyol, unreacted polyisocyanate and adducts of the base polyol and polyisocyanate. A low equivalent weight polyol is then added and reacted in a second step to form the dispersion. The process unexpectedly produces a stable dispersion of the fine PIPA particles in the base polyol, even when the base polyol contains mostly secondary hydroxyl groups. The process also permits the tuning of product viscosity by increasing or decreasing the extent of reaction in the first step.
