Die Erfindung betrifft. Ein Kochfeld (12; 312; 512), insbesondere für den Haushalt, mit einer Herdplatte (16), z.B. aus Glaskeramik, die eine beheizbare Kochzone (28) und eine Einstellzone (Abdeckung 30; 330; 530; 630) aufweist, wobei der Einstellzone mindestens ein Sensorschalter (26) zugeordnet ist, der auf Berührungen der Herdplatte oder Annäherungen z.B. von Fingern an die Herdplatte anspricht. Um dabei Nachteile des bekannten Standes der Technik zu vermeiden oder zu vermindern und insbesondere die Bedienungsfreundlichkeit zu erhöhen und eine bessere Benutzerführung zu erzielen wird vorgeschlagen, eine auf der Herdplatte (16) angeordnete die Einstellzone übergreifende Abdeckung (30; 330; 530; 630) vorzusehen, die über der Einstellzone ein Fenster (40 bis 46; 340, 346) aufweist, durch das hindurch der Sensorschalter (26) betätigbar ist. Vorzugsweise weist dabei die Abdeckung (30; 330; 530; 630) im wesentlichen ein metallisches Material z.B. Edelstahl oder Aluminium auf, in dem das Fenster (40 bis 46; 340, 346) ausgebildet ist. Bei einer Bedieneinrichtung für ein Kochfeld mit einem LC-Display (11) kann vorgesehen sein, dass auf die Oberseite der unteren von zwei Platten (12, 13) des LC-Display ein Mikrocontroller als Halbleiterchip (30) direkt aufgebracht ist, beispielsweise durch COG-Technik. Dieser Halbleiterchip (30) steuert nicht nur das LC-Display (11) an, sondern auch an dem LC-Display angeordnete kapazitive Sensorelemente (20, 21) und wertet diese auch aus. So wird eine eigenständige Baueinheit gebildet. Diese kann über geeignete elektrische Verbindungen (34', 36) mit dem Kochfeld (43) verbunden sein und dieses unter Umständen zumindest teilweise oder sogar ganz steuern.

The lattice touch-sensing system may include two capacitive sensing layers, separated by an insulating material, where each layer consists of substantially parallel conducting elements, and the conducting elements of the two sensing layers are substantially orthogonal to each other. Each element may comprise a series of diamond shaped patches that are connected together with narrow conductive rectangular strips. Each conducting element of a given sensing layer is electrically connected at one or both ends to a lead line of a corresponding set of lead lines. A control circuit may also be included to provide an excitation signal to both sets of conducting elements through the corresponding sets of lead lines, to receive sensing signals generated by sensor elements when a touch on the surface occurs, and to determine a position of the touch based on the position of the affected bars in each layer.
