    摘要: An anchoring pin (10) for retention of a dental restoration onto a tooth stub, the pin (10) including an upper retention portion (14) on which a restoration is to be formed, a lower anchoring threaded portion (18) self-threadable in a bore pre-drilled in the tooth stub and a stop collar (16) interconnected between the retention portion (14) and the anchoring portion (18). A stepped dental drill (50) having two coaxial drill bits (70, 72) of different diameters is provided, which in addition to forming the bore (82) makes a counterbore (86) at the mount of the bore at the exposed excavated surface of the tooth. The counterbore (86) receives the stop collar (16) of the anchoring pin (10) as the latter is driven into the tooth bore (82) thereby preventing bottoming out of the pin (10) so as to avoid concentrated stress at the tip (29) of the pin (10) and also providing distribution of stress as the wider collar (16) abuts the bottom of the counterbore (86).

    摘要: A dental post (10) for retaining a dental restoration into a tooth stub and a method for making dental post. The dental post (10) includes a cylindrical body portion (12) and a head portion (14) which extends outwardly from the body portion (12). The body portion (12) is inserted in a bore in the tooth and secured therein by cement. To improve cement retaining capacity of the dental post (10), there are provided on the body portion (12) non-continuous raised portions (42), spaced by wide open gaps to regain large segments of thick segments of cement. The overall portion of the gap area surface is greater than that of the land area surface.
