    摘要: An apparatus and method for minimizing the accumulation of soil and debris within a vacuum system of a surface maintenance machine is disclosed. A secondary fluid, such as pressurized cleaning solution, is sprayed into the vacuum system in order to reduce soil and debris accumulation within the vacuum system without applying additional fluid to a floor surface. In one embodiment of the invention, pressurized fluid is introduced directly into the vacuum extractor tool of a surface cleaning machine in order to dislodge accumulated debris on surfaces therein. A method of minimizing the accumulation of soil and debris within the vacuum system is also disclosed. The invention is applicable to a variety of portable and vehicle-based floor cleaning machines.

    摘要: A vacuum trash collection vehicle has a debris container (182) and a source of vacuum (32), both located on the vehicle. There is a hose (174) connected at one end to the debris container and has the source of vacuum (32) applied thereto. The other end of the hose is open to form a collection nozzle (26). There is a boom for supporting the nozzle during use as a debris collection device with the boom including a rear support arm (40) pivotally mounted to the vehicle and supporting the hose in a rear area and a forward support arm (50) pivotally mounted to the rear arm and supporting the hose at an area forward of the rear support arm (40). There is a control element (80) accessible to the vehicle driver for moving the hose and nozzle. There is a spring (58) pivotally connected between the rear (40) and front support arms (50) which urges the front support arm in an upward direction to, at least in part, carry the weight of the hose for assisting the vehicle driver in operating the control element (72). An adjustment means (72) readily accessible to the driver allows him or her to vary the moment arm by which the spring (58) urges the front arm upward, thereby varying the height at which the front arm supports the hose.
