    摘要： A lock for a door (10) has a casing (11), a blot (55), a pivoted operating handle (36) operable to retract the bolt, and lock means comprising a lock cylinder (39). The lock cylinder (39) is secured to the housing by a screw (38g) covered by a rose (110) around said part of the housing, the rose being secured in place by fixing screws (38h) which can only be accessed upon removal of the casing assembly from the door and with the bolt in a retracted position. In this state the shank of the screwdriver to undo each fixing screw can easily be passed through respective aligned openings in a cover plate (12) of the housing assembly, the bolt (55), and the housing (38), thereby allowing removal of the rose and subsequent replacement of the cylinder (39) without the need to remove components of the door lock itself.

The other end of the connecting member is shaped such that when engaged by the handle, as the handle is pivoted to retract the bolt, it transmits a force to said end (57) at the locking member to overcome the force of a spring (65) holding the locking member against the bolt, thereby to release the deadlocking and allow bolt retraction.

It is a particular feature of the invention the bolt has {i} a holding position in which it can engage a keeper, {ii} a non-holding position in which it is disengaged from the keeper, and {iii} a retained position in which it cannot engage the keeper and in which it is retained by the retaining means (56, 60; 156, 160; 456, 460), the non-holding position being between the holding and retained positions. There is also provided a method of operating a latch unit (10) according as herein defined.

An over-centre spring (40) is used to bias the dogging hook into either the engaged or the disengaged position.
