The present invention relates to a tool (27) and a cutting head (26) for cutting machining, rotatable relative to a work piece. The tool comprises a holder (28), a cutting head (26) and means for fastening (29). The holder has a front surface (30) and the cutting head has a support surface (16) provided to releaseably abut against each other substantially in a radial plane. The cutting head (26) consists of injection molded cemented carbide and comprises at least one cutting edge and a central blind hole (15) provided to cooperate with the means for fastening (29). The blind hole and the cutting edge are integrated with the cutting head (26). The means for fastening (29) is provided to influence the cutting head in direction towards the front surface, via the blind hole. An insert (21) of a material softer than injection molded cemented carbide is attached to the blind hole (15). The insert (21) comprises a thread provided to cooperate with the means for fastening (29).

When prior art shanks for milling tools are coupled to a chuck then the stability achieved in such a connection is not satisfying. The aim of the present invention is to increase the stability and consequently the load that the shank is subjected to. The present invention is characterized by having a transition surface (33; 63) between the first (31; 61) and the second (32; 62) portion, said first portion (31; 61) having a smaller diameter than the second portion (32; 62), said transition surface (33; 63) having an extension transverse to the longitudinal extension of the shank (30; 60). When coupled to a chuck (40; 50; 70; 80) the transition surface (33; 63) of the shank (30; 60) will cooperate with a contact surface (47; 57; 75; 85) of the chuck (40; 50; 70; 80).

A holder for a conical or cylindrical centering projection of the component is provided on the support part. The two parts are pressed together at a pair of supporting ring surfaces by a clamping device actuated from outside the component part by means of an adjusting screw. To ensure ease of operation, advantageous transmission of force between the parts and compatibility with existing coupling systems with a central connecting rod, the clamping device has three bracket-like clamping claws arranged at a distance from each other on the periphery, each of which lies in an axial plane of the coupling. The clamping claws have an anchor section with abuts on a shoulder in the holder, and have an outwardly projecting bracket section which can swivel into a relieved internal recess. To this end, the adjusting screw is screwed into one of the clamping claws, so that its pressure head, which is located radially inward, presses uniformly against contact sections of the other two clamping claws.

Der Ringkolben ist über ein in sich geschlossenes Hydrauliksystem mittels Druckschrauben relativ zum Grundkörper axial verschiebbar, derart, daß der Rotationskörper, vorzugsweise ein Werkstück oder ein Werkzeug, axial fest verspannt wird. Zur Verbesserung der axialen Steifigkeit eines solchen hydraulischen Spannelementes und um eine schnelle und gezielte Justierung von Rundlauffehlern beim Einrichten zu ermöglichen und für eine radiale Spielfreiheit im Betriebszustand zu sorgen, ist eine auf dem Dorn (10) festgelegte Hülse (16) vorgesehen, auf welche der Grundkörper (20) aufgeschraubt wird. Diese Hülse hat einen federnden Flansch (18), der einerseits von dem schwimmenden Ringkolben (24) beaufschlagt wird und andererseits gegen das Werkzeug (12) anliegt.
