The lip includes an inner face, an outer face, a digging edge and a series of through-holes spaced rearward of the digging edge. The wear members each include slots to receive the boss (28) adjacent their rear ends, and openings for receiving the locks (60) at a position forward of the bosses (28). The pair of opposed ears (32, 34) of the tip (12) mates with a pair of corresponding opposed slots (54, 56) defined by the adapter (14). The pair of opposed slots (54, 56) in the adapter (14) likewise has a pair of opposed edge surfaces (60, 62) angled with respect to one another and are in confronting mating relationships with the pair of opposed edge surfaces (40, 42) of the pair of opposed ears (32, 34). This inhibits any outward movement of the pair of opposed ears (32, 34) with respect to the adapter (14).

Dementsprechend weisen die Keilflächen (25,26) des Hohlraumes (24) konkav gewölbte, von dem Grund (28) zur Mündung (29) des Hohlraumes (24) dieselben kontinuierlich abnehmenden Krümmungsradien auf. Dadurch wird eine grossflächige Auflage der Zahnkappe (5) auf der Zahnnase (3) erreicht. The retention system may additionally have a generally C-shaped slider configured to be disposed within the apertures of the tool adapter and to engage the aperture of the work implement. The C-shaped slider may have an opening oriented away from the generally C-shaped clamp, and the retention system may further have a fastener configured to connect the generally C-shaped slider to the wedge.
