Die vorliegende Erfindung will eine elektrische Heizvorrichtung der eingangs genannten Art schaffen, die bei kompaktem Aufbau eine hohe Wärmeleistung ermöglicht, wobei gleichzeitig auch dem Umstand Rechnung getragen werden soll, dass der Druckverlust innerhalb der Zirkulationskammer (14) für das zu erwärmende Temperiermedium nicht allzu hoch und dementsprechend der Pumpendruck und damit der Systemdruck innerhalb des Zirkulationssystems nicht allzu hoch über dem Atmosphärendruck eingestellt werden muss. Zur Lösung dieser Aufgabe wird mit der vorliegenden Erfindung vorgeschlagen, dass die Heizrippen (22) und die Zirkulationskammer (14) umgebende Wände (16, 18, 20) des Gehäuses (2) so vorgesehen sind, der Strömungskanal (19) eine sich allein in der X-Y-Ebene erstreckende Hauptströmung (H) des Mediums zwischen den Rohranschlüssen (10) vorgibt.
