In order to prevent inadvertent separation of the two handle portions (22, 23) at their rear ends (24, 25) when the handle is closed and the clamping device (27) is screwed up tight, the lugs (36, 37) have abutment portions (61, 62) which engage abutments (65, 66) inside the two recesses or cavities (38, 39). The abutments (61, 62, 65, 66) are positioned on one side of the hinging axis (34) so that they move apart when the handle (21) is opened. Hence the abutments (61, 62, 65, 66) do not interfere with the hinging of the handle portions (22, 23) nor with their separation and reconnection.

The holder includes a fixed portion (12) and a rotatable portion (14) that pivot relative to one another in the same longitudinal plane around a pivot point (29) positioned adjacent the blade receiving area and lock together to securely hold the blade in the blade receiving area. While the fixed portion of the holder is gripped in one hand, the thumb or finger of the same hand is used to unlock and rotate the rotatable portion to release and eject the blade singlehandedly, without touching the blade. The fixed portion of the holder includes a cleat and/or an abutment that mate with an opening in the blade. Alternatively, the blade includes a tab (231) that mates with a depression (219) in the blade receiving area to lock the blade in the holder.

Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Messer der eingangs genannten Gattung zu schaffen, dessen Sperrvorrichtung einerseits mit großer Geschwindigkeit entrastet werden kann und andererseits weitgehend unabhängig von einer die Ansprechschwelle mitbestimmenden trägen Masse ist. Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß dadurch gelöst, daß innerhalb des Griffkörpers (11) mindestens ein jede Änderung seiner Translations- und Winkelbeschleunigung messender mikroelektronisch betätigbarer, kapazitiver Beschleunigungssensor (21) angeordnet ist, der unter Zwischenschaltung einer elektrischen Übertragungseinrichtung (22) bei Überschreitung eines eingestellten Sollwertes der Beschleunigung die Sperrvorrichtung (20) entrastet und das Messer (13) unter Wirkung des Energiespeichers (16) in den hohlen Griffkörper (11) einfahren läßt.

Um Scheiben praktisch beliebiger Stärke schneiden zu können, besteht die Auflageplatte (7) aus zwei im Abstand verstellbaren Teilen, einem der Führung des Schneidguts dienenden Teil (10) und einem zum Einschieben in die Führungsnuten (5) dienenden Einschiebeteil (6). Die Abstandsverstellung der Teile (10, 6) erfolgt mittels einer Schraubgewindepaarung (11) oder über Keilflächen.

The blade carrier has outwardly extending flanges for supporting a blade and a retainer tab for laterally retaining the rearward portion of the blade and the case has a retainer protrusion at the blade opening for laterally retaining the forward end of the blade so that the retainer tab and the retainer protrusion coact to retain the blade to stabilize the blade during usage.
