摘要: The flow control device or valve used in a power steering system of an automotive vehicle. A housing (1), an axially extending hole (H) in which a spool valve (14) is movable. A first pressure chamber (15) is defined in the hole, with one end of the spool valve. A drain passage (19) is opened to the first pressure chamber and closable with the spool valve. A second pressure chamber (16) is defined in the hole, with the other end of the spool valve. A restricting orifice (9) communicates with the first pressure chamber (15). An introduction passage (20) communicates through the orifice (9) with a discharge passage (8) and is opened to the first pressure chamber (15). The pressure in the discharge passage (18) is introduced via communication passages (21,25) to the second pressure chamber (16). A first spring (17) is disposed in the second pressure chamber (16) to bias the spool valve in a direction to close the drain passage (19). A spring holding member (37) movably and coaxially disposed in the hole (H) has a first end face (40) defining the second pressure chamber (16) and a second end face (41) which is larger in pressure-receiving area. The first spring (17) is disposed between the spool valve and the first end face (40). The second end face (41) defines a pressure control chamber (36) communicated with the second pressure chamber (16). Additionally, a second spring (48) is provided to bias the spring holding member (37) in a direction to reduce the volume of the pressure control chamber (36).

摘要: A power steering system includes first and second valve members (40 and 42) which are movable relative to each other to port fluid to a vehicle power steering motor (31) and a pump (24) for providing fluid to the first and second valve members (40 and 42) and the power steering motor. A force transmitting member (116) is connected with the first valve member (40) and movable toward and away from the second valve member (42) for applying a force to resist relative movement between the first and second valve members. A fluid pressure chamber (138) receives fluid from the pump (24), the pressure of which acts on the force transmitting member (116). The first and second valve members (40 and 42) include passages for conducting fluid to the fluid pressure chamber (138). A fixed size bleed orifice (182) conducts fluid from the pressure chamber (138) to a reservoir (32). The orifice (182) restricts the flow of fluid from the chamber (138) to the reservoir (32). A variable speed motor (14) which drives the pump (24) varies the flow rate of fluid to the chamber (138) as a function of vehicle speed to vary the pressure in the chamber.

摘要: A hydraulic power steering apparatus includes a motor-driven pump (11) which discharges pressurized working fluid at a flow rate proportional to the rotational speed. A load-pressure responsive valve (20) is connected to a discharge passage (15) to which the pressurized fluid is discharged from the pump (11). The load-pressure responsive valve (20) bypasses the pressurized fluid to a reservoir (12) when the control valve (14) is in a neutral state, thereby reducing the amount of the pressurized fluid supplied to the control valve (14), and increases the amount of the pressurized fluid supplied to the control valve (14) when the load pressure of the pump (11) increases upon operation of the control valve (14). With this control, the energy consumed by the pump (11) can be reduced.

摘要: A hydraulic power Steering system includes a pump (100), a flow control valve (108), and a bypass control valve (120). The flow control valve (108) responds to a pressure drop across a metering orifice (105) disposed in a fluid supply passage (104) so as to control the flow rate of operating fluid by bypassing part of the operating fluid to a reservoir (101). A spring chamber (110) of the flow control valve (108) is connected to the supply passage (104) through a control orifice (109). The bypass control valve (120) is disposed between the spring chamber (110) and the reservoir (101) so as to increase the amount of bypassed fluid by controlling the pressure in the spring chamber (110). The bypass control valve (120) has a control spool (121), a load pressure introduction port (123A) connected to the upstream side of the control orifice (109) for leading the load pressure to a first end of the control spool (121) and a pilot port (123B) connected to the downstream side of the control orifice (109) for leading the pressure in the spring chamber (110) of the flow control valve (108) to a second end of the control spool (121). Moreover, a pressure receiving area of the second end of the control spool (121) is smaller than that of the first end of the control spool (121). Accordingly, a spring (122) having a small spring constant can be used in the bypass control valve (120), even when the control spool (121) is controlled within a short stroke. Further, the control spool (121), the load pressure introduction port (123A), and the pilot port (123B) are formed in a sleeve.
