Further, the correction amount-calculating unit calculates a movement amount of the take-up roller based on a moving direction of the take-up roller and the correction amount, and stores the movement amount in a correction information-storing unit (1d). When discharging the paper leaf, a position controller controls a moving unit (1f) based on the movement amount to move a position of the take-up roller.

A recyling automated banking machine (ATM) including note feeding apparatus for properly orienting and quickly identifying notes deposited therein. Conventional recyling ATMs rely upon special features included in the currency note for identification. Accordingly, identification of currency notes not possessing such special features, e.g., U.S. notes, render quick identification difficult, particularly where the note is worn. The present invention overcomes these drawbacks by using a note feeder that can surely separate and properly orientate notes from a deposited note stack. The feeder includes a tray (74) for moving a stack toward an angled wall (170) for splaying the stack, reversible pick belts (78), stripper rollers (176, 178) for corrugating the notes, and a strip back stop (166). The separated notes are fed to a deskewing and aligning device.

An automated banking machine (10) identifies and stores documents such as currency bills deposited by a user. The machine then selectively recovers such documents from storage and dispenses them to other users. The machine includes a central transport (70) wherein documents deposited in a stack are unstacked, oriented and identified. When a user subsequently requests a dispense, documents stored in the storage areas are selectively picked therefrom and delivered to the user through an input/output area (50) of the machine.
