Power cables intended for working under extreme conditions of heat and temperature are prone to deterioration and/or destruction of their protective layers, and it is therefore extremely important, for safety reasons, that said cables be made of fire-resistant materials, which are flame-retardant in the event of a fire. The present invention proposes obtaining a power and/or telecommunications cable which includes at least: an electric and/or optical conductor element, covered with at least one electrically insulating layer, also optionally including a protective layer surrounding one or more insulated conductor elements, having the special feature that the cover and/or insulation of the cable includes: a) an extrusible organic polymer or a mixture of several extrusible organic polymers; b) an inorganic phosphate arranged hierarchically on phyllosilicates; and c) other secondary inorganic fillers.

The joining of very long electrical conductors should be more sturdy than what is provided by a simple bush, which joins same when said conductors are to be located on the sea bed in a very irregular manner and with stress on the bush or elevated joining means, a consequence, in addition to the irregularity of the aforementioned, of the great weight of the conductors. For this reason the method that is the aim of the invention consists of welding the conductors, perforating the reinforcement bush, placing same in the welding area of the conductors and welding the bush, and the subsequent deformation of the bush until the diameter of the bush is equal to that of the conductors.

The invention relates to a procedure for manufacturing cable rolls (10) with a dispensing cover (11), using electrically conducting cables (19) with insulating sheaths. The procedure including unwinding of the cable from a reel (20), passing it through a device (21) to check for perforations in the insulating sheath of the cable, winding of the cable on a roll former, formation of the cover by welding sheets (13) of PVC film pre-cut to predetermined formats, supplied vertically from a roll (23) of film and placed in front of and behind the cable roll, transfer of the covered roll to heating mantles (27) for shrinking the cover so that the whole roll is wrapped by the cover, punching (28) of the cover, folding the film towards the inside of the roll and labelling of the covered roll on the upper crown area.

Consequently, starting from an assembly of metallic conductors (21) it is possible to obtain a flexible cable (23), of reduced dimensions, smaller final diameter of the finished cable, and reduced weight per unit length that includes a plurality of insulated multi-wire conductors (21) where each multi-wire conductor (21) has a predetermined polygonal cross-section.
