An assembly having an externally threaded pipe nipple with an inserted grommet couples to a motor frame and to a conduit box, supporting the conduit box to the motor frame and providing a pathway for the motor lead through the grommet and nipple into the conduit box. The conduit box is configured to connect motor lead connections to the incoming power supply. A sealing material, such as a fluid elastomeric material, is poured into the pipe nipple and allowed to cure. The grommet abuts against a stop portion of the pipe nipple, retaining the sealing material. A nut having external threads mates with internal threads of the pipe nipple. As the nut is rotated and tightened, it compresses the sealing material against the inner surface of the pipe nipple and against the motor lead wires, and thus seals the electrical connections within the conduit box from the motor and environment.

According to one aspect, the present technique provides methods and apparatus for winding coils for a stator. Advantageously, the windings may be wound in loops having a higher than large cross-section to facilitate the insertion step of the windings into stator slots. Moreover, another embodiment provides a transfer tool that maintains a stepped configuration and coil shape of the windings developed during winding step upon a form comprising separations of the wire bundles. Advantageously, the present technique may decrease motor fabrication times.

In one embodiment, endplates are integrated into the upper and lower housing structures such that essentially only two prefabricated pieces are required to form the bearing housing. The inner ring (16) is rotated to allow the securement elements (22) to fall into the recesses (50) and are enclosed between the groove (54) and recesses (50) by inserting, for example, a set screw (62) after the securement elements (22) are loaded. According to an exemplary embodiment, the present invention provides a charge-dissipating device that includes a dissipation member disposed in an explosion-proof enclosure. When mounted to a rotatable shaft of an electric motor, for example, the dissipation member is configured to generally abut against the rotatable shaft. The dissipation member dissipates shaft-charge developed in the rotatable shaft during operation of the motor. By dissipating shaft charge, the likelihood of arcing and/or bearing current (I b ) occurrences are reduced or eliminated. In accordance with another exemplary embodiment, a transmission member is configured to impart a voltage signal onto the shaft.
