A medical device system for the delivery of energy to a region of a patient's anatomy is provided. An introducer tube defines a lumen therein and bears a first electrode. A second electrode is movable within the lumen between a retracted position and an extended position. In the retracted position, the second electrode is substantially disposed within the lumen. In the extended position, the second electrode extends at least partially beyond the distal end of the introducer tube. In one form, the introducer tube is configured to substantially hold the second electrode within the lumen in a predetermined orientation in the extended position, and the introducer tube prevents the second electrode from substantially rotating within the lumen of the introducer tube during movement into the extended position. In one form, the introducer tube is more flexible in a first plane than in a second plane. A method is also provided.

An implantable device (10) for providing one-way flow of air through a lumen in a human lung to reduce the volume of air trapped in a diseased portion of the lung by occluding the lumen to prevent inhalation while permitting expiration out of the diseased portion. The implantable device (10) is deployable in the lumen with a catheter. The device (10) comprises an umbrella-shaped, one-way valve (14). The valve (14) is collapsible for containment within a catheter and expandable in situ when deployed to occlude the lumen. The valve (14) defines a longitudinal axis and comprises a plurality of metal struts (30), a resilient membrane (32), and a central post (34). The device (10) further comprises an anchor (12) for securing the implantable device (10) within the lumen. The anchor (12) comprises a tapered distal end (24) for penetrating the wall of the lumen, and a planar member (26) positioned to limit advancement of the anchor (12) into the lumen. The implantable device (10) further comprises a mechanism (16) connecting the one-way valve (14) to the anchor (12). The mechanism (16) is disposed along the longitudinal axis when the device (10) is collapsed. The mechanism (16) is configured to permit the valve (14) to be oriented at an angle to said anchor (12) when deployed. Accordingly, the anchor (12) can be positioned in a section of the lumen that is at an angle to a section of said lumen in which said one-way valve (14) is positioned.

An electrosurgery device according to an embodiment of the invention captures a lymph nodule and resects it. The lymph node is captured with a vacuum and resected it with an electrode, which minimizes bleeding and limits the potentially malignant node from coming into contact with surround tissue as it is resected and removed. This limits the potential for inadvertent cancer spread. An electrosurgery device according to an embodiment of the invention also allows several lymph nodes to be resected in a single procedure, each lymph node being easily indexed according to its nodal station and stored in a manner that limits the potential for cross-contamination. An electrosurgery device according to an embodiment of the invention further provides a collector for individually receiving resected lymph nodes. The collector may be easily detached and sent to pathology without interrupting resection of other lymph nodes.
