    摘要: A transfer device comprising a housing; a supply roll rotatably mounted to the housing, the supply roll having a wound supply of liner wound thereon, the liner having an adhesive carrying surface with an adhesive provided thereon; a take-up roll rotatably mounted to the housing, the take-up roll having at least an end portion of the liner connected thereto such that rotation of the take-up roll in a take-up direction winds portions of the liner unwound from the supply roll onto the take-up roll; and an application head comprising: a plurality of rollers rotatable about substantially parallel axes spaced apart from one another; and a closed-loop belt trained about the plurality of rollers to provide a transfer surface facing outwardly of the device, the rotation of the rollers enabling the belt to travel around the rollers, a portion of the liner between the supply roll and the take-up roll being trained over the application head with the adhesive carrying surface facing outwardly of the device and the transfer surface of the belt engaging a backside surface of the liner opposite the adhesive carrying surface, the head being provided on the device to enable the adhesive to be transferred to a target substrate by engaging the adhesive carrying surface on the portion of the liner trained over the belt with the target substrate and applying pressure to bond the adhesive to the target substrate, and the rotation of the take-up roll, the supply roll, and the plurality of rollers of the application head enabling advancement of the liner from the supply roll to the take-up roll with the belt travelling around the rollers of the application head to facilitate movement of the liner over the application head.

    摘要: A master processing system includes a frame and a cartridge assembly (26) having a cartridge body (46) and first and second feed rolls (12, 14) rotatably mounted to the cartridge body. The first and second feed rolls carry first and second stock materials with at least one of the stock materials (16, 18) having a layer of adhesive disposed thereon. The cartridge body is removably mounted to the frame. A master processing assembly (28) is constructed and arranged such that a master can be inserted into the processing assembly together with the stock materials (16, 18) unwound from their feed rolls and disposed on opposing sides of the master. The processing assembly (28) performs a master processing operation, wherein the processing assembly causes adhesive bonding between the master and the stock materials being fed therein. An ejector mechanism (30) is constructed and arranged to eject the cartridge assembly (26) in an outward direction with respect to the frame.

    摘要: The present invention provides an adhesive transfer device (100) comprising a frame (60) and first and second cooperating structures (20,22) each having a substrate engaging surface, the first cooperating structure being a nip roller (22) rotatably mounted to the frame. The selected substrate (40) and the adhesive carrying substrate (14) can be advanced between the cooperating structures with the substrate engaging surfaces thereof cooperating to apply pressure to the substrates. This causes the first portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer to adhere to the selected substrate (40) and the second portion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer to adhere to a pick-up portion of the substrate engaging surface of the nip roller (22). The pick-up portion of the substrate engaging surface of the nip roller (22) has a greater affinity for adhesive bonding than the surface of the adhesive carrying substrate (14) on which the layer is coated so that as the substrates are discharged from between the cooperating structures, the second portion of the adhesive layer remains adhered to the pick-up portion of the nip roller (22) rather than to the adhesive carrying substrate (14). An adhesive pick-up device (30) has an adhesive pick-up surface (32) with a greater affinity for adhesive bonding than the pick-up portion of the substrate engaging surface of the nip roller (22). The adhesive pick-up surface (32) engaging the substrate engaging surface of the nip roller (22) such that, as the nip roller rotates during the adhesive transfer operation, (a) the pick-up portion of the nip roller having the second portion of the adhesive layer adhered thereto engages the adhesive pick-up surface (32) of the pick-up device to adhere to the pick-up surface and (b) the adhesive pick-up device continually advances the adhesive pick-up surface so that the portions of the adhesive pick-up surface with the second portion of the adhesive layer adhered thereto is moved away as the nip roller (22) continues to rotate and is replaced by a portion of the adhesive pick-up surface that is devoid of adhesive.
