摘要： To transport and/or store produce, individual refrigeration units are provided for palletised packages. A load of produce (201) is enclosed by packaging which acts as a gas barrier, e.g. a plastics bag (2), corrugated cardboard, etc. The packaging may optionally also include insulation (200). In one option the refrigeration unit is in or on the pallet (3). The gas flow across the evaporator (15) (i.e. the flow internal to the gas barrier) is kept separate from the gas flow across the condenser (10) (which flow results in heating of the ambient air) by such measures as physical separation of condenser and evaporator and ducting or channels in the pallet. In another option the refrigeration unit sits on the produce. In this case separation of the gas flows may be achieved by sealing of the barrier (e.g. clamping of the mouth of a plastic bag by an O-ring) to a flange encircling the condenser.

摘要： A rotary internal combustion engine of the type having pistons mounted for reciprocatory movement in respective cylinders which are arranged in equally-spaced relationship around a longitudinal axis of rotation, said axis being the axis of rotation of an output shaft passing rotatably and sealably through apertures of respective first and second end plates of a housing within which the pistons and cylinders move as part of a rotatable rotor assembly secured to said output shaft, while the pistons are simultaneously movable reciprocably in the cylinders, cam follower means being associated with each piston and adapted to coact with undulating cam track means around the housing. Cyclical combustion of fuel in the cylinders imparts reciprocation to the pistons with resultant thrust against the cam track means so as to cause rotation of the rotor assembly and output shaft. The pistons include two sets thereof each having at least two pistons, the pistons of each set being at opposite sides of the axis of rotation of the rotor assembly and output shaft and are interconnected by piston-connection means so that the pistons of each set move in unison, the parts being so made and arranged that the piston cam follower means coact with the cam track means in a manner ensuring that movement of either set of pistons in their cylinders is in the direction opposite to the direction of movement of the other set of pistons.

摘要： The invention allows cool rooms or sea containers designed for frozen goods to handle produce requiring more precisely controlled temperatures and conditions, e.g. vegetables and fruits requiring temperatures in the chilling range and often also needing control or modification of the atmosphere. Each load of produce (100) (e.g. of pallet size) is held in the sea container or cool room but is sealed from the air of the refrigerated environment by, for example, a plastics bag (56). The atmosphere within the bag is then circulated by a fan (12) (or by convection currents from a heating element) so as to pass through the load and around it via ducts (30) provided adjacent the bag (56). Heat exchange (50) between the circulating gas and the refrigerated environment, via the plastics film, serves to cool the load. However if cooling is excessive a heating element can be used to raise the temperature of the circulating atmosphere. Gas composition of the atmosphere can be controlled by scrubbing, flushing, etc. via pipes from a central unit or at each load individually or by choosing semi-permeable plastic for the sealing bags.

摘要： A series of interconnected bags (3) and a method and apparatus for the manufacturing and charging thereof. A series of bags (3) are blow formed from plastics film tube (5) which integrally incorporates the recloseable elements (6) adjacent what will become a top (8) of each bag (3). The plastic film tube (5) is longitudinally slit opposite the recloseable elements (6) to provide connecting strips (12) extending along each side of what also becomes open bottoms (10) of the bags (3). Support rails (7) are provided, preferably integrally, on each strip (12). The recloseable elements (6) are engaged with one another prior to transverse seals (13) and severing cuts (14) being formed at bag forming intervals along the film material (5). The seals (13) and cuts (14) extend from the tops (8) of the bags (3) to the strips (12). The engaged recloseable elements (6) are thus enclosed and cutting the top (8) of a bag (3) is necessary to access the recloseable elements (6). The support rails (7) enable the bags (3) to be suspended bottom (10) uppermost and conveyed through a charging and sealing apparatus. Following charging the strips (12) are removed to separate the bags (3) therefrom and from one another.

Date Jul. 21, 1994A method is disclosed of producing a corrosion resistant product from a billet comprising a core of finely divided ferrous swarf compacted into briquettes in a stainless steel jacket and in which the billet is heated to a temperature at which it becomes sufficiently plastic to be worked into a finished or semi-finished product by an operation such as rolling. An additive is pre-mixed with the swarf which, when the billet is heated, reacts to form an atmosphere inside the jecket which displaces or prevents the formation of carbon dioxide and/or other gases which at elevated temperatures would oxidise the stainless steel to form chrome oxides at the interface between the jacket and the core. The additive is preferably in powder form. Examples of suitable additives include urea and ammonium chloride.
