    摘要: A die (613) is supported in a die holder (18, 381, 581) such as a frame or an adapter supported in a frame such that it is operational use in a material deforming operation. One or both of the die (613) and the die holder (18, 381, 581) have at least one gas passage (683, 30, 31) which is substantially closed by at least part of the die. Gas such as pressurised air is directed into an end of the gas passage opposite the die via a hose connected to a gas source. If the die is broken or loose leak paths are available for the escape of gas past the die to or from atmosphere. A pressure sensor (40) connected to the hose detects the change in pressure of the gas and the magnitude of that pressure is used to determine the die condition. Alternatively a flow rate sensor (40) is used to detect a change in the flow rate of the gas in order to determine the condition of the die.

    摘要: A valve mounting arrangement comprises a mounting member (27) for fixing to valve actuator (12) and a rotatable part (25). The rotatable part is, or is connected to, a directional fluid control valve for controlling the supply of fluid the actuator. The mounting member (27) has first and second ports (41,42) for communication with corresponding ports on the actuator. The control valve has at least one first fluid passage for the supply of fluid to the actuator and at least one second fluid passage for the exhaust of fluid from the actuator. The control valve is rotatably coupled to the mounting member for rotation about a rotational axis such that the first and second fluid passages are in fluid communication with the first and second ports of the mounting member irrespective of the rotational position of the directional control valve body relative to the mounting. A clamping member (28) clamps the rotatable part against rotation at a selected position.

    摘要: An ink supply system for an ink jet printer, particularly a continuous ink jet printer, has a docking station where one of more disposable cartridges of ink or solvent are releasably connectable to the printer. The cartridge comprises an inner collapsible container with an outlet that is connectable to an inlet of the ink supply system and a substantially rigid outer housing. A front wall of the housing has an opening providing access to the outlet and a window that provides access to electrical contacts associated with a memory device containing information relating to the contents of the cartridge. The contacts in a fixed relationship relative to the outlet so that when the cartridge is docked to establish fluid communication with the ink supply system the electrical contacts are electrically connected to respective contacts associated with the printer.

    摘要: A method for measuring the volume of liquid, such as ink or solvent, remaining in a container, such as a replacement cartridge for a continuous ink jet printer, uses a reservoir enclosing an internal space having a variable volume for storage. The reservoir is adapted to provide a reduction in the pressure of the internal space, the reduction substantially monotonically increasing in magnitude as liquid is drawn into the printer, such that the volume of liquid remaining may be calculated from knowledge of the minimum withdrawal pressure required to draw further liquid from the reservoir into the printer. Containers for use with the method have a liquid dispensing port adapted to allow liquid to be dispensed when a withdrawal pressure at the exterior of the port is less than the pressure of the internal space and adapted to prevent the ingress of air into the internal space of the reservoir as liquid is dispensed.
