The invention prevents oil from leaking onto a starting device of an internal combustion engine. In an oil-leak prevention structure according to the invention, a dam (122) is provided that blocks any backflow of oil from an oil pan (102) from directly contacting a seal member (18, 20) provided between a ring gear (10) of the starting device and an oil pan (2). An oil-return hole (122a) may also be provided so that any oil that has flowed between the dam (122) and the ring gear (10) can be smoothly returned to the oil pan (102). This reliably prevents oil leaks because foreign substances are less likely to become trapped by the seal member (18, 20), and prevents excessive increases in hydraulic pressure from being applied to the seal member (18, 20).
