摘要: A digital to analog decoder converts an input digital signal into an output analog signal and alters the spectral content of the output signal. An adaptive delta demodulator (42) converts the input digital signal into an analog signal to provide the output analog signal in accordance with a step-size control signal (28). Processing means (96) alter the spectral content of the output signal in accordance with a spectral control signal (82). The step-size and spectral control signals both have limited bandwidths (46, 80) so that substantially the same output signal is obtained irrespective of the order in which the delta demodulation (42) and altering of the spectral content (96) are performed.

摘要: A relative position transducer (10) for determining the angular position of a first member (20) angularly movable relative to a second member (18) includes a coded track (22) on the first member, a read head (30) mounted on the second member, drive means (not shown) for oscillating the read head to scan over and read a limited region of the coded track, and a mircrocomputer (not shown) for interpreting the code read by the read head as the position. A first sensor (60, 62) detects when the read head is in a predetermined reference position, and a second sensor (103, 104) detects the end points and direction of the read head scan. The sensor outputs are connected to the computer for correct interpretation of the read head output. An interpolation is used to improve the accuracy of the position determination.

摘要: The flexible bag comprises a container of flexible plastics material having an external sheet (14) and an internal sheet which define a sealed chamber which can be filled with air at low pressure. The sealed chamber is composed of a series of tubes (31) separated by welded seams (32) but in communication with each other. The air causes the container to assume a substantially parallelepipedic external shape and produces an internal housing which is defined by the internal flexible sheet and which is capable of housing an office machine, for example a portable typewriter. The container comprises two handles (21,22) projecting from the parallelepipedic shape, for facilitating transportation of the container itself, and a valve (23) to permit the container to be inflated only when it is to be used for the protection or transportation of the machine. The container may be easily deflated and in that case can be re-folded on to itself in order substantially to reduce its bulk. In addition the container has an opening (24) at a position corresponding to the two handles (21,22) to permit the passage, therethrough of the machine, and two movable flap portions (26,27) having closure means (28) for closing the opening (24), which are disposed adjacent to the two handles (21,22).

摘要: A cartridge (6) for a multistrike typing ribbon (21) for printing machines engages a single drive shaft (51) for unidirectional advance movement of the multistrike ribbon (21) and comprises a container having a bottom (8) and two arms which project from a rear wall and which each have an aperture for the ribbon to pass therethrough. An epicyclic transmission arrangement (40) is disposed on the bottom (8) and comprises a series of toothed gears (48, 52 and 53) which are coplanar with each other and parallel to the bottom (8). The drive shaft (51) is engaged with a feed sleeve (49) of the cartridge and is coaxial with the feed roller (42) for the ribbon (21). The feed sleeve (49) is fixed with respect to the sun gear (52) of the arrangement (40), the sun gear being engaged with the planet gear (48) which in turn is rotatable on an eccentric pin (47) of a plate (46). The plate (46) is fixed with respect to a second sleeve (44) which is rotatable about the sleeve (49) and on which the feed roller (42) is fixed. The gear (48) is always engaged with an internally toothed ring (53) which is provided on the bottom (8) and constitutes the fixed annulus gear of the arrangement (40). The transmission ratio as between the gears (48, 52 and 53) is such as substantially to reduce the number of turns of the feed roller (42) with respect to the turns of the drive shaft (51).

摘要: In a machine for reading and writing information, a scanning reading device (10) converts the information on a document on a bed (2) into digital electrical signals. Those signals are passed to a device for printing on plain paper for locally reproducing the original document and/or passed over a telephone cable to transmit the information to a remote receiving station. The printing device comprises a thermal printer (34) and a replaceable cartridge (48) obtaining a reel (50) for feeding the ribbon (42) which is covered with thermally transferable ink. The ribbon is as wide as a sheet of normal paper and is disposed in superposed relationship therewith on a rotatable platen roller (38) for printing information by means of a thermal print head (34). To ensure a high level of quality and uniformity of printing, the inked ribbon must be disposed in perfectly superposed relationship and without wrinkles on the sheet of paper to be printed. That is achieved by means of a curved wall (70) of the cartridge, which extends over the entire width of the inked ribbon. The wall holds the ribbon (42) in a taut condition, eliminating any wrinkles and folds which may be present in the supply reel (50).

摘要: A re-inking device (11) is applied to a cartridge (12) of the type comprising a container (13) having a magazine (34) for accommodating an inked ribbon (32) of the closed loop type disposed in loosely arranged turns, and a pair of toothed rollers (43) for unidirectional feed of the ribbon (32). The re-inking device (11) comprise an ink reservoir (51) which is housed in a closed casing (53) fixed removably in the interior of the container (13), and an ink metering means (52) having an internal portion and an external portion. The internal portion is inserted by way of an aperture (74) into the interior of the casing (53) and is held in contact with the reservoir (51); the external portion is in contact with the rounded external surface of the teeth (76) of an inking roller (42). The inking roller (42) is always engaged with a drive roller (78) of the pair of rollers (43). A guide bush (41) directs the ribbon (32) towards the teeth (76); the ink (50) passes from the metering means (52) to the rounded surface of the teeth (76). The teeth (76) in turn transfer the ink (50) to the ribbon (32) which is engaged with the rollers (43). The metering means (52), the inking roller (42) and the ribbon (32) are of the same height, thus providing for uniform re-inking of the ribbon (32) during the feed of the ribbon.

摘要: The ink is formed by a solution of a direct dye in a mixture of water and glycol wetting agents, to which a pigment which is finely ground to particles of dimensions of not more than 1000 Å is added in dispersion, in a concentration of between 0.1 and 2%. The pigment particles serve to anchor the gaseous nuclei of gases which are dissolved in the ink for the purpose of stabilising the boiling point of the ink. The ink is particularly suited to an ink jet printer of the type in which expulsion of the droplets is produced by causing instantaneous vaporisation of a portion of ink in a nozzle.
