摘要:
A hand-held electronic writing instrument (Figure 1) comprises a writing tip (6) for marking a surface and a pressure sensor (10) located at the writing tip (6) for emitting a pressure signal once the writing tip (6) contacts the writing surface (3). An accelerometer sensor (20) is also located at the writing tip (6) for sensing the acceleration of the tip (6) over the surface (3) and emitting an acceleration signal based on the acceleration of the tip (6). The pressure signals and acceleration signals are transmitted to a processing circuit (30) located within the implement. An analog-to-digital converter (38) is used to convert the signals into digital code which is recorded in a recording chip (39) within the instrument. A power source (40) is used to power the electronics of the implement. The writing implement is used in conjunction with a receiver (60) capable of receiving digital information such as a computer (60) having a translation package which translates the digital information in order to determine the original markings made by the writing tip (6) on the writing surface (3). The translated markings are displayed on a display (61).

A writing instrument assembly and assembly method are disclosed. The assembly includes a pocket clip (20) partially extended into the cap (10) and pivotable about a ring (30) which is embedded within a plastic insert (50) fixed to the cap. The assembly technique includes steps for preassembling the components of the cap assembly prior to embedding the ring into the plastic insert.

A rotary knock type mechanical pencil in which the forward (1) and rearward (17) outer cylinders are relatively rotated, a cam movement converting mechanism stored in the forward outer cylinder converts the rotary movement into an axial advancing or retracting movement, the lead feeding mechanism (7) may feed the lead of desired length from the extremity end of the mechanical pencil under a knocking operation in the shaft comprising: a cam cylinder (14) integrally rotating with the rearward outer cylinder (17); a rotary cam mechanism for converting the rotary movement of the cam cylinder into a reciprocating advancing or retracting movement while slidably contacting with the cam surface formed at the extremity end surface of the cam cylinder; a lead feeding mechanism including an advancing or retracting mechanism such as a cassette adapter for advancing or retracting the lead chuck attached to the extremity end under a reciprocating movement applied through the rotary cam mechanism, a lead chuck (9) for holding the lead, and a tightening member (10) freely inserted into the extremity end of the lead chuck and for holding or releasing a lead of the lead chuck as its advancing movement is carried out.

摘要:
A non-marking, writing system simulates a physical writing system which has characteristic ranges of writing resistance, sound, resilience and thermal conductivity. The non-marking writing system includes a non-marking writing instrument (12) having an elongated shank (70) with opposite ends. A non-marking tip (76) is connected to one end of the shank (70) for engagement against and movement across a writing surface (46). The writing surface (46) onto and across which the tip (76) is moved for non-marking writing, creates an actual writing resistance. The tip (76) is structured and made of selected material so that the actual writing resistance falls within the characteristic range of writing resistance for the physical writing system.

A data well arrangement is for storing data and for interfacing with a writing implement having a writing end with a writing tip and data transfer end with a data transfer tip. The data well arrangement has a housing with an inlet opening for receiving an end of the implement. A data reader is in the housing for facing the data transfer tip to exchange data with the implement when the data transfer end of the implement is received in the opening. A shutter in the housing is engageable with an engagement portion of the implement for moving of shutter between a writing end storage position in which the data reader is inaccessible, and an interface position in which the data reader is accessible to the data transfer tip with the shutter being engaged by the engagement portion of the implement, only when the data transfer end is received in this opening.

A wireless stylus (300) appratus for use with a pen computing device having an input screen or tablet for inputting information into the pen computing device. The wireless stylus includes a reusable barrel (301) having an open end and a disposable stylus cartridge (200) having a body section and a head section. The head section has a point (203). The disposable stylus cartridge (200) is meant to be releasably mounted in the reusable barrel so that the head section (202) can extend beyond the open end thereof. The information is input to the pen computing device when the point (203) is in contact with the surface of the input screen or tablet. The disposable stylus cartridge (200) is configured to leave no discernable mark on the input screen or tablet when the head section (202) is in contact with the input screen or tablet.
