The invention concerns a method for locating a high-resistance earth fault in a power distribution system on the basis of current measurements. In the method, variations of the zero sequence voltage U0 and the zero sequence current I0f of the line or line section with their phase angles are measured. The variations are calculated as compared to a more long-term average (e.g. covering a period of 10 minutes). The influence of current through the zero sequence impedance Z0f of the healthy state of the line is deducted from the measured variations in the zero sequence current. Among current measurements compensated in this manner, the one is selected as corresponding to the faulty line or line section which has the greatest absolute value of the current and which simultaneously exceeds a predetermined threshold.

The invention relates to detecting and locating a high-resistance earth fault of an electric power network. In the method, the substation is measured at the neutral point voltage (Uo) in phasor format. According to the method, the phase leg voltages of the network are measured in phasor format, the zero-sequence voltage phasor representing the neutral point voltage (Uo) is formed as the phasor sum of the measured phase leg voltages, the zero-sequence impedance (Zo) is computed by means of a network model, whereafter the zero-sequence voltage (Uo) is compared in phasor format with the phasors of the network phase leg voltages (Uv) and the resultant zero-sequence impedance (Zo) of the network, and from these computed variables are derived the fault impedances (Zf) for each phase leg, whereafter the faulted leg is identified as the leg having the greatest value of the real part of the fault impedance (Zf).

The present invention relates to a control device (1) to be arranged to a three-position switching device including one axis wherein the switching motion is controlled from a common axis. The switching device is then controlled by turning the control shaft in the apparatus clockwise or counter-clockwise. The present invention provides a completely new solution that ensures a safe operation of the switching device and enables to carry out checking and servicing using simple means. The control device (1) of the invention comprises a housing (5) arranged at the switching device, and a control plate (7) arranged to move in the housing substantially along the surface of the apparatus receiving the switching device. Such a control plate comprises at least two crank openings (10) to be moved at the control shaft of the switching device. The use of the switching device can then be regulated by moving the crank openings or the necks (11, 12) on both sides thereof at the control shaft, thus preventing or allowing the manual controller controlling the switching device to be arranged to a tuning end (13) in the control shaft.
