An axially reciprocal valve (28') which automatically opens upon the coupling halves being connected is guided within a shell (50) within the pressurized coupling half and a sealed relationship between the valve and shell minimizes the area of valve surfaces exposed to the pressurized medium reducing the axial forces imposed upon the valve toward the closed position. A bleed valve (64) communicating with the valve interior permits valve operation with hydraulic systems in the event of seal leakage.

    摘要: The invention pertains to an oil drain fitting for internal combustion engines which permits a quick draining of the oil. A body [10] threaded into the conventional oil pan drain hole [9] includes an axial passage [12] having a tubular valve [30] reciprocally mounted therein. The valve [30] is open at its lower end [34] and closed at its inner end [36] having a head [38] which seats against the inner end [16] of the body [10]. The lower end [34] of the valve [30] includes an abutment surface [48] for engagement by a drain conduit fitting for axially displacing the valve [30] inwardly to open the valve and permit flow therethrough. A cap [54] may be mounted on the body to enclose the lower end of the valve when the fitting is not in use.

An embodiment of the invention utilizes a secondary control valve (138) preventing fluid flow until the nozzle has been fully connected to the tank inlet.

The body includes an axially displaceable valve (112) movable between a closed retracted position and an extended open position. Connection of the body to the tank inlet occurs upon rotation of the connection sleeve (68) and positioning of the valve is achieved by a rotatable cam sleeve (36) having a cam slot (46) in which a valve-mounted follower (142) is located. An interlock (82) senses mounting of the body on the tank inlet permitting rotation of the connection sleeve in a locking direction and upon the connection sleeve being fully rotated to a locked condition a second interlock (98) permits rotation of the cam sleeve and valve movement from the closed to the open position. The nozzle is characterized by reduced flow resistance characteristics and safe operation.

The interconnection between the latch (120) and lock arm lever (142) is through a cam slot (132) defined on the latch (120) receiving a lock arm lever follower (150), and the cam slot-follower relationship prevents impact forces imposed on the cargo hook structure from inad­vertently producing lock arm lever rotation and latch movement.
