The invention is characterised in that said half-shell (2A) forming the top portion of the cylinder (1) comprises at least one deformation (7) in the form of at least one boss or at least one groove encircling the flange (6) for receiving the gas-dispensing nozzle.

The cylinder is characterized in that the outer protection casing (5) further includes a peripheral band (19) to be fitted above the tank (2) and including, at the upper (20) and lower (21) ends thereof, connection means (22) designed for engaging with complementary connection means (23) provided at an upper edge (24) and at a lower edge (25) of the seat (6) and the cover-forming portion (8), respectively, said connection means (22, 23) being shaped so as to prevent an uncoupling in the axial direction and to enable a radial uncoupling of the band (19) from the base (6) and the cover-forming portion (8), said band (19) further comprising at least one axial cutout area (29).
