A press bobbin for yarn treatment formed of a cylindrical wall (1) which is fabricated by blow molding of a synthetic plastic and comprises relatively thin-gage zones (2) and relatively thick-gage zones (4) extending circumferentially and alternately arranged in the axial direction of the bobbin. The cylindrical wall defines an indentation configuration along the axial direction wherein the thin-gage zones correspond to projecting portions and the thick-gage zones to recessed portions. The thick-gage zones are defined with holes (3) for passage of liquid and the thin-gage zones are, when pressed axially, bendable in a U-form to protrude outwardly, thereby to be axially compressible. The relatively thick-gage zones may be provided with reinforcing members (5) which serve to suppress compression of the bobbin.

The invention relates to an automatic wrapping apparatus of and method for wrapping cylindrical articles, particularly plastic bobbins (B) that are liable to roll in quantities, the apparatus neatly comprising feed means (4) for unwinding two wrapping sheets (3) in opposed manner and forming a sheet bottom for a wrapping bag, loading means (8) for holding therein each unit of aligned and arranged bobbins (B) and dropping each bobbin unit therefrom onto the sheet bottom in orderly state, supporting means (15) for supporting bobbins (B) dropped unit by unit from underside and causing the bobbins (B) whenever dropped to descend by the bobbin height, thus stacking the units one upon another, a case (18) for receiving the bobbin units descending with the stacking to retain the orderly wrapping state, and uniting means (7) for uniting whole margins of the wrapping bag. Every bobbin unit is dropped onto the sheet bottom from the loading means (8). Simultaneously, dropped bobbins (B) are caused to descend by the bobbin height while being supported from below by the supporting means (15) and supported from the surroundings by the case (18). Thus one pack-unit of bobbins (B) are stacked one upon another in the sheets neatly, and the wrapping bag is united at whole margins and separated from the web sheets (3).
