A low energy screw comprising: a head configured to accommodate a driving tool; a shank extending from the head to a point tip, the shank having a neck, a body, and a point; main threads; and lower threads, wherein the main threads have a lead that is from about 60 percent to about 80 percent of an outer diameter, the main threads are arranged between the neck and the lower threads, the main threads have a thread form including an outer tip having a substantially linear profile and a rounded root having a concave profile, and the lower threads are arranged between the main threads and the point tip.

A package (10) for a plurality of products, having a closed container having a container wall (16), the wall defining a cavity for holding the products, and the wall having a product holder adapted to hold at least one selected product in a position visible from outside the container. The holder is an inwardly and/or outwardly opening recess (50,60) formed in the wall, and the at least one selected product (51,61) is positioned in the recess. The holder includes an outer member restraining the selected product to the outwardly opening recess, such as a packaging label (40), having a transparent portion forming a viewing window (42,43) for viewing the selected product. In yet another aspect, the plurality of products in the cavity may be identical primary products, such as screws. The selected product may be different from the primary product, such as a driver bit for driving the screws.

A screw head is provided with ribs (26) on some of the driver engageable surfaces. The rib (26) is slanted outwardly from the screw axis by a small angle A between 1° and 10°. A punch (150) for making a screw head with ribs (26) on some of the driver surfaces includes a slanted groove (168) for providing a rib (26) which is slanted from the screw axis by a small angle A between 1° and 10°.
Abstract:
Various embodiments described herein provide a fastener system having straight walled driving surfaces that provides a reliable stick fit feature, while also improving stability of engagement between the system components. A feature of the new system is to allow engagement of existing standard straight walled drivers in the new system.

The fastener of this application is designed to facilitate the insertion of rotating power driven tools into the fastener recess. The recess of this fastener generally uses spirally configured driving surfaces and is formed in a counterbore in the upper surface of the fastener. The driving lobes have upper surfaces that are depressed a distance into the counterbore. A ramp surface is formed on each of the upper surfaces that causes a spinning bit to fall into the recess in an engaged manner. The ramp surfaces are constructed with both removal and installation ramp portions.
