摘要： A trailer for use in transporting livestock includes platforms (24) that are vertically adjustable in order for the tailer to be adapted to transport different types of livestock. The platform (24) is secured to a number of multistage pistons which comprise a plurality of stages (34, 36) and a single cylinder (32). The advantage of multistage pistons is that the height of th housing only needs to be slightly greater than the length of the longest stage of the extension member. A cable extension transducer (38) is located adjacent to the cylinder (32) and has a flexible cable (40) which extends from a housing. The flexible cable (40) is secured to the end of the first stage (36) of the extensions member in order to accurately measure the overall length of the extension member comprising a plurality of stages (34, 36).

摘要： Airflow means in the form of fans (80) are provided in the bulkhead (11) at the front of a transporter. These fans (80) supplement the natural airflow since they direct the airflow in the transporter in the same direction as that produced naturally by movement of the trailer. The transporter may have a plurality of levels to support livestock on different levels to increase the efficiency of transporting livestock. Each level may have a pair of fans (80) in order to provide the airflow along the level. The present invention may be incorporated within a transporter comprising an integral trailer and cab and also within a trailer which can be separated from and secured to a cab unit. The airflow means take air from within the transporter and emits the air into the external atmosphere.

摘要： A platform support system comprising a support pawl and an actuation system operable in response to an input received from a user to move the support pawl between a supporting position and a non-supporting position when the support pawl is not in use supporting a platform, wherein a platform is arrangeable with the support pawl so as to be supported by the support pawl when in the supporting position, and wherein operation of the actuation system in response to a user input leaves the support pawl in a supporting position when the support pawl is in use supporting a platform.
