A system 100 is described for the treatment of multiphase residues having unlimited content of water, oil and solids to obtain hydrocarbons and other products, said system comprising multiphase residue feed system 10, inert gas system 20 and reduced pressure system 30, tubular reactor 40 provided with three heating zones Z-1, Z-2 and Z-3 with a temperature gradient and transportation helicoid 42 to displace the residue mass throughout the reaction zones, the hydrocarbon products and water being collected in a system 60 of condensers 61, 62 and 63 linked to a system 70 of bubbling vessels 71, 72 and 73, reactor 40 being operated in the sealed mode and being provided with a multiphase residue inlet 43 and exit 44 of solid product. The solid product is collected in a system 50 comprising upper valve 51 and lower valve 52, and intermediate silo 53 and then directed to post-treatment system 90 for activation aiming at industrial utilization. The process using the system 100 of the invention is also described. Multiphase organic residues, petroleum residues, pure or in admixture in any amount, from chemical and pharmaceutical industries, paper and pulp industry, and mining industries can be processed in the inventive system. Besides, it is possible to recover phenols from foundry sands in the system and process described.

A new form of construction for synthetic cables used for the anchoring of floating platforms in offshore oil production is described. A desirable requisite for this application is that the durability of the cable is not affected by deterioration of its strong core by virtue of the aggressive mechanical action of particles of the sea bed which might penetrate the cable and reach its core. For this purpose a layer (3) to protect the core (1) comprising a strip of polymer material placed in helical fashion which permits the passage of water and prevents the passage of particles of the sea bed towards the core (1) is placed between the cable core (1) and its outer braided protective layer (2).

An on-line, thermo-chemical process for the dewaxing of oil export pipelines with the aid of a Nitrogen Generating System is described, wherein the treating fluid to be employed as dewaxing fluid comprises: a) a solution of nitrogen salts activated by emulsified acetic acid and designed to yield nitrogen and heat, and b) a solvent, which is the pretroleum oil being produced. The dewaxing treatment is effected at the same time as the pretroleum oil is produced, this leading to great savings in costs and energy.

A fiber and a process for obtaining same from a high-modulus polyethylene, extrudable in state-of-the-art equipment and in the absence of previous solubilization in any kind of organic solvent is described, the process comprising providing such a polyethylene, introducing it in a state-of-the-art extruder, extruding it according to a temperature pattern, obtaining an extrudate that is directed to a cooling bath to have its temperature reduced, then directing the extrudate to a first stretcher where it is stretched or drawn into a fiber of improved tenacity, at a first velocity v 1 , then heating the fiber at nearly 90°C and then directing said fiber to a second stretcher to be drawn at a final velocity v 2 , wherein v 1 2 , at a draw ratio of 2/1 until 65/1. The tenacity of the polyethylene fiber obtained by the said process attains at least 4 gf/den, which makes it useful to naval and offshore applications.

There is disclosed a method and a device to allow a 'rigid' pig to pass into an undersea flow pipe in which a hollow flow-constricting device is in use. According to the invention the device is provided with a first pipe branch and a second pipe branch. The first pipe branch is provided with a hollow flow-constricting device in it and both first and second pipe branches are provided with shut-off valves, whereby the flow can be diverted to the second pipe branch thereby enabling a rigid pig to pass into such second pipe branch, when necessary.

This invention relates to a method for inverting the convex configuration of a liquid-product storage-tank bottom with a view to providing greater efficiency in the operations of removing the undesirable materials which normally accumulate in the tank bottom (5). A layer of material having, plastic properties, is placed over the conventional tank bottom (7), except for one part from the centre of the tank base to the edges. The material with plastic properties hardens over time, thus producing a new bottom (7) whose centre (11) is at a level below the level of the edges. The part over which material having plastic properties was not placed forms a flow gutter (9) which leads the liquids and sediments which have to be drained off to the edges.
