The present invention refers to a method for verifying operative parameters of a selecting device (22) of a machine (100) for forming springs, configured for subdividing the springs formed by a spring forming device (1) of said spring forming machine (100) in at least one first group corresponding to springs having dimensional parameters falling into predefined tolerance values, and a second group corresponding to springs having dimensional parameters varying from said predefined tolerance values, said method comprising: - setting the spring forming device (1) so that it makes a test run of springs comprising a predetermined number (n) of faulty springs having dimensional parameters varying from said predefined tolerance values, and a predetermined number of suitable springs having dimensional parameters falling into said predefined tolerance values; - detecting the dimensional parameters of each spring formed in the forming device (1) by a measuring system (17) of the machine (100); - subdividing, by said selecting device (22), the springs formed by the forming device (1) into said at least one first and one second groups; - verifying the absence of suitable springs among the springs selected by the selecting device (22) in the second group; - comparing the number of the faulty springs selected by the selecting device (22) in the second group with said predetermined number (n) of faulty springs set for the test run. The present invention refers to a selecting device (22) destined to be disposed downstream a springs forming device (1) of a springs forming machine (100), comprising: - an inlet (23) adapted to receive each of the springs (2) formed in the springs forming device (1); - at least one first (24') and one second outlets (24") adapted to eject each of said springs (2) from the selecting device (22), by subdividing them in at least one first and one second groups; - means for selectively conveying each of said springs (2) entering the selecting device (22) through the inlet (23) towards the first (24') or second outlets (24"), configurable according to at least one first configuration, wherein said selective conveying means form a first conduit (26') connecting the inlet (23) to the first outlet (24'), and a second configuration, wherein said selective conveying means form a second conduit (26") connecting the inlet (23) to the second outlet (24'). The selecting device (22) comprises means configured for generating a depression in at least one of said first (26') and second conduits (26") and means (32, 34) for generating a compressed air flow directly inside the selecting device (22) at at least one of said first (26') and second conduits (26").
