The release assembly releases the material into the hopper and the material flows from the hopper and into the trench. The machine moves parallel to the trench as the trench is being filled. An operator controls the movement of the machine from an operator station on the machine.

摘要: A system for uncovering and sealing a narrow trench. The system comprises several subsystems, including a work machine, a frame for providing a seal with the surface to be trenched, a saw blade, a vacuum system, a system for placing product and a resealer. The blade includes rotatable tooth bits, which may be rotated and secured to create a blade for narrower or a wider trench. A removable cover and the blade are easily changeable. A ground engaging surface on the frame is manipulated to maintain a seal with changing ground surfaces. Additionally, the vertical location of the blade within the frame is adjustable to create a deeper or shallower trench.

摘要: A control system for a work machine. The control system allows an operator to selectively maintain control of a ground drive, a work tool, or both the ground drive and the work tool. The system provides a foot pedal movable between multiple positions. The foot pedal allows an operator to selectively hold the position of one or both of the ground drive control and work tool control. When the foot pedal is in a first position, the work tool control and ground drive control are not affected. When the foot pedal is in a second position, the position of the work tool control is maintained, while the ground drive control is not affected. When the foot pedal is in a third position, the position of the work tool control is maintained and the position of the ground drive control is maintained. A work tool control lock is used to prevent the work tool control from engaging when the foot pedal is in the second position or the third position.

摘要: A dual-member pipe joint (24) having an outer member (26) and an inner member (28) which is disposed coaxially within the outer member (26). Both the outer member (26) and the inner member (28) have a pin end and a box end. The pin end of the outer member is threadable to the box end of another outer member. The pin end (94) of the inner member (28) is geometrically shaped. The box end (96) of the inner member nonthreadably receives the pin end (94) of another inner member in 'slip-fit' connection. 'Slip-fit' means the pin end of the inner member slides into the box end (96) of a like inner member and forms a connection that is capable of transmitting torque. The pipe joint may be connected to a drill string in a single action with just one connection. This dual-member pipe joint reduces boring time as compared to boring with conventional dual-member pipe joints, in which both the inner and outer members are threadably connected and thus require two pipe connections. This dual-member pipe joint is usable as a system of pipe, and as part of a boring machine.

A slidable collar (24) is provided which has a pair of opposed lugs (28) which slide on opposed flats (18) on the saver sub to insure that the slidable collar rotates with the saver sub at all times. The drill pipe (14) has a pair of opposed flats (30) which are engaged by a portion of the lugs (28) when the slidable collar (24) is moved into the engaged position to insure rotation of the drill pipe with the saver sub.

摘要: Directional multi-blade boring heads (1000, 1050) are disclosed which have first and second blades (1030, 1032) which each define a deflecting surface (1036, 1038) for deflecting the boring head when the head is advanced without rotation. At least one intermediate blade (1034) extends between the deflecting surfaces in a three blade design. In a four blade design, a second intermediate blade (1042) extends on the side opposite the first intermediate blade (1034). The boring head is particularly effective in drilling a straight borehole through a variety of soil conditions when the boring head is simultaneously rotated and advanced along the direction of boring.

摘要: A drill unit (12) is disclosed which uses slides (18, 20) mounted on the saver-sub (16) of the drill unit to lock the drill pipe (14) to the saver-sub (16) for joint rotation. Dogs (32) are engaged with flats (50) on the drill pipe by moving an outer collar (42) over the end of the drill pipe. The outer collar holds the dogs within the flats to ensure joint rotation between the saver-sub and the drill pipe. The outer collar (42) can be retracted away from the drill pipe to move the dogs out of engagement with the flats and move the slides (18, 20) to the retracted position.

摘要: A drill pipe (10) is disclosed which includes a cylindrical pipe section (12), a box end (14), a pin end (16) and a hydraulic hose assembly (18) connected between the box and pin ends and extending within the cylindrical pipe section. By passing drilling fluid through the hydraulic hose assembly (18), the interior surface of the cylindrical pipe section (12) is not exposed to the drilling fluid and does not need to be treated to prevent corrosion. Further, the reduced volume of the hydraulic hose assembly (18) relative to conveying the drilling fluid through the interior of the cylindrical pipe section reduces significantly the waste of drilling fluid, allows the fluid to be pressurized more rapidly to initiate drilling operation, and limits fluid spill damage to the environment. A rigid or flexible tube can replace the hose assembly (18), with the tube attached to the ends by threads, seals, press fits, O-rings or adhesives, or any combination thereof.
