摘要： A parachute has a canopy (10) provided with air outlets (19) on an upper portion of the canopy. When the canopy (10) is inflated air passes out of the outlets (19) and the outlets (19) are so positioned that by selectively closing the outlets (19) the parachute can be steered. In an alternative mode of use, the outlets (19) remain permanently open thus allowing unsteered operation of the parachute. The canopy (10) is made of air impermeable material to maximize air flow through the outlets (19).

摘要： A liferaft is formed by a pair of inflatable tubes (11a,11b) and a floor with a canopy (12) over the tubes and the floor. Water pockets (14) depend from the tubes and fill with water when the liferaft is deployed to stabilise the liferaft. Rigging lines (22,24) and a lifting ring (23) are provided to allow the liferaft to be lifted out of the water. The rigging lines (22) are connected via straps and pocket lines to the lower edges of the pockets (14) so that, as the liferaft is lifted out of the water, the water pockets (14) are inverted and pressed against the tubes (11a,11b) to expel the water they contain. This reduces the weight to be lifted.

摘要： A reserve parachute is provided with air pockets (14)at the apex (13) of the canopy (10) to allow rapid deployment of the reserve parachute without tangling with a malfunctioning main parachute. Skirt assist lines (15) are provided to allow the lower edge (12) of the canopy to spread on deployment and so speed the opening of the canopy (10) and ties (21) may be provided between the pockets (14) to maximize their effectiveness.
