    摘要： A method and apparatus are provided for selectively inserting replacement media content, such as advertisements, in scheduled media content for each of a plurality of client devices. The media content to be inserted is selected and downloaded to the respective client device and then a playback time for the downloaded media content is signalled to the client devices which can then play it at the playback time. Content is selected by one or more content selection servers connected to the plurality of client devices and a time provided in a previous response from a content selection server is used for each client device to request the media content selection.

    摘要： In method and system for authorising multiple devices 56 and multiple content providers 52 in a content provision system, each content provider is issued with a content provider authorisation certificate, and each user device (e.g., video on demand (VOD) television set-top box (STB)) is issued with a user device authorisation certificate, the two certificates for coming from a common source. A determination is then made as to whether each content provider and each user device is authorised to participate in the content provision system (e.g., using software applications (apps) 302) via a mutual exchange and comparison of the certificates between respective content providers and user devices. The content provider and user device authorisation certificates may be rooted in a common root (e.g., self-signed) certificate; a root certificate authority may be identified, with delegated intermediate certificate authorities. Authorisation certificates (unique) can be signed or generated using a root certificate private key. Public key infrastructure (PKI) and public key certificates, OK, may be employed; revoked certificates may be listed.
