A method of transmitting packets wherein said packets are comprised in a plurality of flows, the flows comprising flow characteristics controlling admission of incoming flows. A plurality of admitted incoming flows with the same class of service are inserted into a queue. A committed information rate value corresponding to said queue and a bandwidth available for transmission of said queue according to the identified committed information rate value are identified. An order for transmission for the queues is established based on the class of service of the queue and the identified bandwidth. A plurality of cells of the same size are generated from a plurality of frames and the cells are distributed between a plurality of individual transmission channels according to the ordered defined for transmission. A transmitter equipment and a receiver equipment are also disclosed.

It is disclosed a node of a packet-switched communication network comprising at least two transmission interfaces, a dispatcher and a control logic. The transmission interfaces have respective capacities and are associated to respective counters. The dispatcher is configured to distribute data units of a traffic flow to the transmission interfaces. The control logic is configured to, upon reception of a data unit: determine a minimum value among respective values of the counters; operate the dispatcher to forward the data unit to the transmission interface associated to the counter having the minimum value; and increase this minimum value by a number indicative of a length of the data unit. The control logic is further configured to decrease at least one of the values of the counters at a rate substantially equal to the capacity of the associated transmission interface.

It is disclosed a method for reducing the frame error rate on a link between a first and second unit of a node of a wireless packet-switched communication network. The first and second units comprise a first and second interfaces, respectively. The first and second interfaces are located at a medium access control layer. The method comprises, at the first interface, associating a sequence number to a frame and transmitting the frame and sequence number over the link to the second interface. The sequence number is indicative of a position of the frame in a sequence of frames transmitted over the link. Further, the method comprises, at the second interface, receiving the frame and reading the sequence number, which is used for determining whether a frame is missing from the sequence of frames. In the affirmative, it is requested to the first interface the retransmission of the missing frame.

It is disclosed a method for transferring a synchronization message from a master node to a slave node through a packet-switched network. The method comprises the steps of: providing a reference clock signal to an ingress node and to an egress node of the packet-switched network; at the ingress node, receiving the synchronization message from the master node, generating an ingress timestamp based on the reference clock signal, and sending the synchronization message with the ingress timestamp to the egress node; and at the egress node, receiving the synchronization message and the ingress timestamp, generating an egress timestamp based on the reference clock signal, computing a transit time as a difference between the egress timestamp and the ingress timestamp and sending the synchronization message and the transit time to the slave node.
