摘要: The present invention is directed to an oral active agent delivery system comprising improved flow controllers. A hollow tubular member (10) containing the active agent formulation and having a fluid passing controller (14) is placed at one end (16) into a fluid and at a second end (18) into a patient's mouth. The active agent is delivered when the patient sips on the end of the chamber. The improved controllers prevent leakage of the active agent formulation.

摘要: An expandable skin stretching device (100) includes skin engaging opposite ends (56, 57) that contact the skin (30) surface on opposite sides of an area of the skin surface having micropathways (31) therein. When the skin stretching device (100) is expanded the skin (30) between the opposite ends (56, 57) is placed under tension, i.e., stretched. The skin is placed under a tension of about 0.01 to about 10 megapascals, preferably about 0.05 to about 2 megapascals. The skin stretching can be uni-directional or multi-directional. Alternative embodiments of skin stretching devices (101, 102, 103, 104, 105) use suction or normal force to stretch the skin (30). Stretching the skin (30) helps keep the micropathways (31) open for enhanced agent (e.g., drug) delivery through the micropathways (31). The stretching also delays micropathway (31) closure.

摘要: A device (100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107) and method for enhancing skin piercing by microprotrusions involves pre-stretching the skin (30) to enhance pathway formation when the microprotrusions (34) are pressed into the skin. An expandable device (100) includes skin engaging opposite ends (56, 57) that contact the skin surface (30) so that when the device (100) is expanded the skin (30) is stretched. The skin is placed under a tension of about 0.01 to about 10 megapascals, preferably about 0.05 to about 2 megapascals. The device (100) has a plurality of microprotrusions (34) which penetrate the skin (30), while the skin is being stretched by the expanded device (100) and optionally during agent delivery therethrough. Another stretching device (106) employs suction for skin stretching.
