For measuring tensile force in a continuous strip or web, load cells are arranged between a bearing housing for a deflector roll, over which the web runs, and a fixed base. A load cell comprises a load cell housing and consists of two yokes (1, 2) facing the bearing housing and the base, respectively, and a force transducer which together with membranes (3,4,5,6) are arranged between the yokes to connect these together. At the end plates of the yokes, screw holes (8 to 15) are provided to attach the yokes to the bearing housing and the base, respectively. At each screw hole there is provided a gap (16) so that, around each screw hole, a tubular body is formed and that the plane outwardly-facing surfaces (17) of the bodies are plane-parallel and extend outside the otherwise plane outwardly-facing surfaces of the yokes.

A flatness measuring device for rolled strip (5) according to the invention comprises a measuring roller over which the rolled strip passes. The measuring roller is divided into a number of roller sections (6). The forces on the roller sections are measured and can be converted, via recalculations, into a measure of the flatness of the strip, whereby a flatness profile across the strip can be obtained. Special to the invention is the design of the measuring device. Between each roller section (6) there is one side member (ABC) which supports the shaft ends (7) of two adjacently positioned roller sections. Each side member in principle consists of three beams (A, B, C) connected together in the form of a triangle. The beam A for all the side members is attached to a common plate (1). First ends of the beams A and B are connected together via a flexible diaphragm (2). At the second end of the beam B the shafts are journalled. The beam C which connects the second ends of beams A and B and consist of a force transducer (Figure 4).
