摘要： Disclosed is a method of manufacturing an optical fiber, the optical fiber comprising an outer jacket and a plurality of capillaries defining a hollow core. The method comprises obtaining a fiber manufacturing intermediate product; and drawing a fiber from said fiber manufacturing intermediate product. Said drawing is such that the fiber-level capillary wall thickness of each capillary in the drawn fiber is less than 200nm and a tension applied during said drawing is larger than 20MPa.

摘要： A method of producing photonic crystal fiber (PCF) preforms, comprising obtaining a plurality of preform capillaries; measuring the wall thickness of each of the plurality of preform capillaries along at least a portion of its circumference at one or more axial positions; selecting a number of preform capillaries from the plurality of preform capillaries at least based on a thickness criterion,; and placing the selected preform capillaries in a glass tube (or jacket tube) to form a PCF preform having at least one ring arrangement of the selected preform capillaries; wherein the selected preform capillaries are oriented such that the portion of each of the selected preform capillaries, within which the measured wall thicknesses vary from the nominal wall thickness by no more than the maximum thickness variation, faces a longitudinal axis of the glass tube, said glass tube being substantially symmetrical about the longitudinal axis.

摘要： Disclosed is a method of manufacturing an optical fiber and a fiber manufacturing intermediate product. The fiber manufacturing intermediate product comprising: an outer jacket; and a plurality of capillaries, wherein said capillaries comprise an intermediate-level capillary diameter ratio of capillary inner diameter to outer capillary diameter greater than 0.90 and wherein a nominal wall thickness of each said capillary at said intermediate-level is greater than 1500nm. This intermediate product may be drawn to a fiber where the wall thickness in each capillary in the drawn fiber is less than 200nm.
