摘要: A polymer surfactant for improving engine oil emulsion properties of a lubricating composition mixed with water and/or fuel contamination, particularly at very cold temperatures, is described herein. In approaches, selected polymeric and functionalized compounds can impart both robust emulsion properties and simultaneously deliver good low temperature fluidity for lubricating compositions that may contain residual amounts of water and/or fuel contamination. Lubricating compositions including such surfactants demonstrate robust properties at temperatures down to about -30 °C.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to lubricating compositions and methods of lubricating a spark-ignition engine effective to improve low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) through selection of lubricant elemental relationships rather than through the addition of supplemental fluid additives with the added benefit that the relationships herein, in some circumstances, improve the low-speed pre-ignition independent of the underlying base oil quality. The lubricating compositions herein include one or more base oils of lubricating viscosity, one or more phosphorus-containing additives providing low levels of phosphorus, a detergent system providing calcium and/or magnesium with certain relationships of the calcium sulfated ash content to the low phosphorus content.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to passenger car motor oil lubricating oil compositions having select dispersant and detergent systems to improve at least one of deposits, sludge, oxidization, and wear when using a blend of API Group II base oils with one or more API Group III and/or API Group IV base oils. The dispersant systems herein includes select amounts of boron, nitrogen, and total base number contributions that surprisingly achieve performance even when including higher amounts of the API Group II base oils in the lubricants.
