The object of the invention is to provide a seating load detecting device which can correctly detect a eating state of an occupant of a seat even when the device is arranged on a vehicle seat cushion with bending. The seating load detecting device includes a band shaped first film formed by a plurality of portions to be contacted, each portion being separated with a distance from each other forming a pressure sensitive switch for detecting a seating state of an occupant of a seat and a switch connecting wiring connecting the plurality of portions to be contacted, a band shaped second film disposed facing to the first film and formed by a plurality of portions to contact forming the pressure sensitive switch and contacting with or separating from the corresponding plurality of portions to be contacted and a partition member disposed between the first and the second films and formed with a plurality of penetration holes positioned opposite to the plurality of pressure sensitive switches and an air passage communicating with the plurality of penetrating holes and exposed to the atmosphere. The first and the second films, between which the partition member is interposed are attached to a seating surface of the seat under the films being bent, and the partition member includes a relief hole provided between a bent portion formed by the first and the second films when attached to the seating surface of the seat and one of the plurality of pressure sensitive switches positioned closest to the bent portion for absorbing a strain.

Provided are a seating sensor for a vehicle seat and an attaching structure therefor that make it possible to easily attach the seating sensor to a cushion portion. For that purpose, the sensor comprises a film-like main body 21 with flexibility adapted to be laid, between a surface on a seating side of a pad member 13 with a concave portion 15 and a skin member 14, across the concave portion and having a plurality of detecting sections 21 a for detecting a passenger seating on the pad member in contact with the surface on the seating side of the pad member, an output section 21 b, and a continuity section 21 c; and a holding member 30 configured to curve and hold a part of the continuity section constituting region of the film-like main body and to be able to be received together with the curved continuity section constituting region in the concave portion and having a pair of facing wall portions 30a, 30b facing inside surfaces of the concave portion and a connection potion 30c connecting respective one ends of the facing wall portions for enabling the facing wall portions and the connection portion to cover at least one side surface of the curved continuity section constituting region 31 c.

It is an object of the invention to provide a seat occupancy sensor which is assembled into the vehicle seat cushion by connecting the connector portion and the detecting portion including the pressure sensitive switch by wiring via the shortest route to prevent the film from breakage or becoming an easily dis-connectible state. The conducting portion includes an inserting portion to be inserted into a through-hole provided in the recessed groove and penetrating through the pad member to the backside thereof, a first bending portion bent in a direction intersecting the recessed groove to be in contact with the seating side outer surface, a second bending portion bent in a direction opposite to the first bending portion across the recessed groove to be in contact with the seating side outer surface. The external output portion is provided at the tip end portion of the inserting portion and the detecting portion includes a first detecting portion connecting with the first bending portion and a second detecting portion connected to the second bending portion.
